Eco-friendly riverside studio

Between Covilhã and Coimbra lies our riverside studio which comfortably fits two. Sheep wander around on the river beach. Have breakfast or dinner on your own terrace, dive in the big pool, relax with a glass of vinho verde and look at the stars! Nestled at the foot of the Serra da Estrela mountain range, beside a crystal clear river, the studio has stunning views, peace, quiet and outstanding natural ambience throughout the location. The studio, one of 5 apartments of Quinta da Moenda, is fully equipped, with a double bed, a kitchen and a big terrace. The bathroom with a shower is built into the side of a mountain rock making it a very attractive feature. A spacious patio with bbq, a big salt water pool and a sauna are at your disposal. If you are looking for cosy and comfortable accommodation (log fires included!), relaxation, peace and quiet in a unique environment then don't think twice and book, you won't be disappointed! The river Alvoco rises almost 2000 meters up in the Estrela range and its crystal clear waters cascade to the village of Alvoco das Varzeas, 300 meters above sea level, which boasts a picturesque Romanesque bridge.The unspoiled environment is great for all who enjoy fishing, rambling and resting. You may also discover a host of other charming xist villages such as Vide, Loriga, Avô and Piódão, either by bike or by car. Coimbra, with its beautiful library and old university is a 1 hour drive away. The more adventurous will want to visit the Serra da Estrela mountain range with its plateau at nearly 2000 meters as well as lakes, sheer drops and breathtaking views. The village is a 5 minute walk along the river and offers a bar and a small grocery shop. Supermarkets, banks and restaurants are all less than 20 min. away in Oliveira do Hospital. We have wifi available. You have all the privacy you need. We live on the other side of the village road and are very appraochable. We happily give you information about the region and tell you where to go shopping or hiking. Life is unhurried here. Tucked away between the Açor and the Estrela mountains, alongside the river Alvoco, the Quinta da Moenda has a timeless feel. Enjoy a lovely riverside walk to the authentic village Alvoco das Várzeas with a chance to spot otters and swim or canoo in the crystal clear water. You need a (rented) car to arrive at our place. It is about 2 hours from Porto airport and 3 hours from Lisbon. We have a big - free- parking available.
