Harehill Cottage is a quiet country cottage, two minutes from the main L/Derry to Belfast Road. Modern open plan living in a traditional Irish Cottage in a house designed by Patrick Bradley of Grand Designs fame. Reached by a quiet lane bounded by fields and established hedge row Harehill Cottage is an excellent place to explore Northern Ireland's, heritage, country and culture and of course the Game of Thrones sites! Everyone from Everywhere is Welcome at Harehill! Harehill Cottage, nestled on a spur of the Garrison Road, looks as though it has been there forever. Created to reflect traditional dimensions, Harehill is a modern home, designed by internationally acclaimed local architect Patrick Bradley. The cottage looks like a house built in the 18C on the outside, on the inside, retaining the traditional dimensions, like a maximum of 7m depth in the wall, Harehill Offers a modern view on country living. Modeled on a Galway Cottage - the home place- Harehill offers a convenient location to explore the whole of Ancient Ulster. Your room is a ground floor accessible double bedroom with Oak Furniture and a private Ensuite Shower room with WC and Basin Guests or friends and family as we would like to think are guaranteed a Connacht and Ulster welcome! Our photos show the open plan living space and guest have access to the seating areas on the ground floor, and Wi-fi, offering up to 78mbs download and 20mbs upload. This speed is both networked and wirelessly linked throughout the house to provide the basis of an excellent multimedia experience. Guests have Free View TV via a Sky Box with some sport channels in their room and also have access to a large smart TV in the lounge with capacity for both Amazon TV and Chrome Casting, together with fixtures to link computers, Android and OS to the TVs. The sleeping area has a full-size double bed, with solid Oak wardrobe and drawers with side tables and lamps. It has its own access via double patio doors onto the large granite patio/terrace. The adjacent ensuite shower room is a late addition (2016) to the property and is compliant with accessibility requirements for a bathroom. There is a step to the lounge area. We offer a European Style Breakfast of Tea/Coffee, Juice, Toast, Cereal and Milk, as part of our guest offer and we hope you enjoy it. As we are a family home and not a self-catering establishment, guests do not have access to the kitchen area for food preparation or the use of the stove/oven. Guests may if they wish heat pre-prepared meals in the microwave, however, please note space in the fridge is limited. We work from home so usually one or more of us are available to assist with your stay and anything we can do to help, do let us know or ask. We do ask that you give us an estimated time of arrival on the first day. Castledawson and Magherafelt are on the North West tip of Lough Neagh, the largest freshwater lake in the Irish and British islands and traditions do say that Lough Neagh is where Arthur of Britain threw his sword to be looked after until his return. In addition to the legends, Magherafelt and Castledawson both offer great dining and fantastic bars with dancing, nightclubs, music and traditional music on offer through out the year. We are lucky to have a 9 hole golf course in Magherafelt and a fantastic 130 Acre Championship Golf Course in Castledawson - less than five minutes drive away. The Seamus Heaney Home Place, a tribute to the life and works of the Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney is in Bellaghy just 15 minutes drive away. Magherafelt and Castledawson are also home to two fantastic GAA clubs and All Ireland League Rugby Club and three football teams. It has an indoor sports arena- the largest in Europe (yep), and a 50 M Olympic size pool, health suite with Sauna. The Wild Atlantic Coast and the Glens of Antrim are 40 minutes away and Portstewart home to the Irish Open 50 minutes drive away. And then there is Game of Thrones and nowhere better to explore the Game of Thrones sites. The closest no more than 20 minutes away. Belfast City Airport is about 45 minutes away, Belfast International 25 and City of Derry about 50. The 212 Bus stops close by in its journey from Belfast to L/Derry and back and local bus services are available in Magherafelt. Our closest train station is Ballymena about 19 miles away. Do enquire about the availability of transfers from us (£) Guests will benefit from having access to a car, motorcycle or a bike as we are a couple of miles from the closest town.
