The Donkey Shed at Domke Farms
A quiet, cozy getaway located about 30 minutes outside downtown Portland, half way to Mt. Hood and just a few miles from Troutdale. A retired feed barn -- located on the rear of our farm, tucked up next to a grove of giant cedars -- has been converted into a charming tiny house studio. You can sit in the main space and sip your coffee while the sun comes up over Mt. Hood. This roughly 450-square foot studio has a full kitchen, full indoor bathroom (with shower), and beds enough to sleep up to four people (one queen and a built-in bunk beds). The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking equipment, a small stove/oven, and a full-sized refrigerator. A huge deck out front is the perfect spot for enjoying a meal in the fresh air. A fire pit and gas BBQ are available for your enjoyment. The shed was built out using recycled and up-cycled materials. The full kitchen is outfitted with concrete counter tops. The in-house bath has a raw wood vanity, and the half bath for the canvass castle, houses a converted pedal sewing machine with a hand-thrown ceramic sink. The Donkey Shed does not have WiFi or television, but cell service is just fine. For those who are desperate, we do have some outdoor chairs by the Boring Red Barn craft studio that you are welcome to sit in and connect to our personal WiFi. Stop by and ask for the pass word, it's a good one. If you have a party larger than four, we have a Bell Tent, in a separate listing called the Canvass Castle as part of the farm, as well we have ample space for a tent or a small camper for an additional fee. Contact us or more details. Domke Farms is a working farm with chicken, bees, fruits and vegetables. We'll provide some fresh eggs from the farm for your enjoyment. We have two friendly dogs and live on-site. We're happy to interact as much as you like or just leave you to your stay uninterrupted. What's with the name? The Donkey Shed is located on Domke Farms. Our last name is pronounced "domkey with an m," so the Donkey Shed became a nickname for the renovation project. Trust us, this spot is far too nice for donkey accommodations! You'll have full access to the Donkey Shed and surrounding amenities (deck, BBQ, fire pit. The space is located just behind the crafting barn, and you are free to roam the farm grounds. We live on the farm with our two super friendly golden doodles. We're here to answer questions, provide suggestions, and assure your enjoyable stay. If you'd prefer no interaction, we'll leave you to enjoy on your own. We are in rural Clackamas County, surrounded by nurseries and farmland. A pleasant 10 minute drive from Dodge Park and the confluence of the Bull Run and Sandy Rivers. The town of Sandy is an easy drive for groceries and other needs. We highly recommend grabbing coffee at Boring Bark 30265 SE Hwy 212, The Cats Moon Coffee is roasted on site and is a serendipitous find, and checking out Joe's Doughnut Shop in Sandy is a must. We are rural, so no public transportation nearby. But with a car you can easily access nearby towns and get downtown in 30-45 minutes. We have a 4 door Jeep and some local knowledge of roads and trails. I would be happy to talk to you about different 'experiences' I could provide. Example a weather dependent Jeep Ride with the top off. A Jeep Ride to breakfast and a Hike to a waterfall or View Point. If you are interested we can chat about cost and specifics.
