Spacious historic cottage, with lots of character, located in the heart of North Adelaide. Enjoy privacy and comfort with the entertainment, business, university and hospital precincts on your doorstep. Ten minutes walk to Adelaide Oval. Great for long-stay family and business trips. Easy access to public transport and all the sights and facilities of Adelaide. The Space Built in 1849 as the oldest original settler home in North Adelaide, this cottage has been lovingly renovated. It has plenty of character with open (decorative only) fireplaces, polished floorboards in living areas and slate in the kitchens and bathrooms. There are two large bedrooms and a separate sitting room with a small single sofa bed that can double as a third for a child. The communal dining/lounge area is light and airy with high ceilings and the kitchen has a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, cooktop (no oven) and pantry. A washing machine and ironing facilities are provided. Outside you can BBQ and dine in the delightful private courtyard, complete with a cellar. The main bathroom has a shower and antique bath. The outside sauna has an adjacent toilet and shower which is mainly for Summer use. A TV/DVD, CD and radio is available. There is no wi-fi although the cottage has NBN connection. There is gas heating in the lounge, ceiling fans and refrigerated air conditioning in one of the bedrooms. There is also a mobile evaporative air conditioner that can be used in bedrooms or the main living area and free standing oil heaters. Indoor and outdoor dining is set up for 4 adults. The Location If you are staying for business, the CBD, universities and public hospitals are a 15-20 minute walk away. Just down the hill is the Adelaide Football/Cricket Oval. A slightly longer stroll will get you to the Adelaide Zoo, Festival Theatre, Convention Centre, , Central markets, Wine Centre and museums and galleries. To dine out, walk just 200m to enjoy cosmopolitan O’Connell Street with its great range of bars, cafes and restaurants. Gym and swimming facilities are located two blocks away at the Aquatic Centre. Take a 45-minute trip north or south and you will be in the vineyards of the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale or Adelaide Hills. Children are welcome and we have a selection of toys and games. You will have the cottage to yourself. Access is 24/7 via security keypad when we are not available to meet you. We aim to provide you privacy and space to enjoy the cottage but are only 5 minutes away for assistance. There is a comprehensive folder with tourist brochures and maps and we are happy to provide advice. North Adelaide is a beautiful neighbourhood with leafy streets and heritage buildings. It is adjacent to parklands but also has shops and other conveniences you may need. It's a delight to walk around. The cottage has ready access to public transport. There is a public bus stop just outside and a free ring route bus around the corner. Free bicycle hire is a 3-minute walk away. Parking is on-street. There are also electric scooters freely available in adjacent streets There is no off-street parking.
