In the middle of a beautiful 'Petite Cite de Caractere' in the lovely and easily accessible Mayenne region, our imposing Maison is conveniently placed for relaxing, walking or exploring the local sights. the Chateaux of the Loire are also a short drive away and many other local attractions are nearby, including the lovely town of Mayenne and its river & the bustling City of Laval. We have 2 bedrooms available with private bathrooms. Bedroom 1 has an en suite & 2 has a bathroom across the hall. We are lovingly renovating the house and have restored many original features. The 2 private bedrooms are charmingly decorated and and although we have tried to keep the character & charm of the old building, each bedroom has it's own private bathroom which has been renovated to a clean & modern standard. We supply continental breakfast included in the price which can be served in the breakfast/dining room or on the Terrace (weather permitting) We are also able to supply evening meals 'en famille' at your request (with notice) Wayne & Gill will be happy to help with any queries information you may require and are happy to supply directions to the various sights in the area. We can be as on site or as discreet as you prefer! We are in the middle of the village with the Mairie directly opposite, it is a small village so usually quiet, although the fabulous Eglise Notre Dame is practically next door and does have a bell! It is worth a look around as it has some beautiful stained glass windows and interesting architecture. 10 minutes walk away there is a Coccimarket (small supermarket) for all your shopping needs and bread, wine cheese etc.Across the road from our house there is a very good restaurant, Voyageurs it is approx 15E for a 3 course meal with wine lunchtime. Nellie's Creperie and bar is 2 minutes walk away and is lovely for a crepe and a cup of local cider at the weekend. There is also a very good takeaway pizza van on wednesday nights (& others around and about on other nights) There is a local market for BIO produce on a Friday night including cheese, honey, wine, cider and beer , vegetables and bread. The cashpoint is 2 minutes in the other direction (up the road). The A1 trout River Ernee runs through the village and you can buy a fishing license and fish practically next door to our house! There are numerous places to sit and enjoy the River & the beautiful scenery. There are also numerous walks around the village some are flat and easy, others can be challenging! cycling is also a great way to get around and there is some wonderful rolling countryside around and about. The chateau Clivoy is a 20 minute walk away and it's gardens are open in the high season. Ernee is the nearest local town with shopping and restaurants . Mayenne, about half an hour away is a charming town with lots of sights, a chateau/ museum, river boats, shopping & restaurants a plenty. Laval is the biggest local town about 25 minutes away by car, it is a bustling place with the usual nightlife and a large shopping centre. The centre is ancient and very interesting.. We are also well placed for travel to the beaches in Normandy and Brittany (about an hour and a half away) the ancient city and castle at Fougeres is only 40 minutes drive away. Parking is in the village square opposite it is a quiet and safe area where locals also park their cars. The nearest airport is Rennes which is just over an hour away. The next nearest airport is Dinard which is an hour and 20 minutes away. There are taxis available to book, around and about but this area is quite remote and there are only 2 buses per day, so a car is pretty much necessary. however you can explore the village and surroundings on foot if you just want to relax and take in the Ambience! It is also a great place to explore by bike we can keep bikes on the terrace at night for security and you can chain them to our railings at the front of the house during the day. We are happy for you to bring 1 pet (ie dog) but please note that there will be a security deposit required at check in (cash 100 euros) fully refundable on checkout.(providing all is in order.
