Cosy & luxurious Shepherd's Hut near Cambridge
My Shepherd's Hut is a luxurious, perfect post-lockdown getaway. Own garden and entirely self-contained, so you can enjoy the village, the cosiness of the Hut, but not see anyone else. We have fire pits and BBQ. The Hut is heated and extremely toasty. Ten miles from Cambridge city centre, easy access to the A14 and the M11. Set in our three acre garden. Full english breakfast provided. Perfect to explore Cambridge. Lovely local walks. Quiet & dark at night, delightful daytime country views . The Hut is set in our lovely garden with its own garden area, complete with outdoor seating, barbeque and fire pit in the summer. Croissants, bread, tea and coffee are provided as are all the ingredients for a cooked breakfast if you wish (there is a hob in the Hut). The Poacher, our charming, thatched pub, is less than five minutes walk away and there are plenty of good places nearby to eat and drink if you wish to stay local. We have a lovely Community Shop in the village if you wish to buy and cook your own supper rather than eat out. There are also two pubs, a hairdresser, and a family-run garage. Cambridge is the star attraction hereabouts, with all our beautiful and ancient city has to offer. Apart from the exquisite and historic Colleges, punting on the Cam and lots of quirky museums and Institutes, Cambridge boasts the Fitzwilliam Museum and lots of great restaurants, galleries, shops, two theatres and the Arts Picture House. There is ample parking at the top of a private lane. Guests access the Hut via their own path and are not overlooked by our Farmhouse. There is a small but ample private gravelled garden area for guests' use. Please be aware that the Hut is some three feet off the ground, with steps leading up to the door, so it is not suitable for the very young or those with mobility issues. I will welcome guests to the Hut but will give them complete privacy. If they have questions, either my husband or I are on hand and are very happy to recommend activities and attractions and where to eat locally or further afield. Elsworth village is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. We have a 1,000 year old church and the village is full of lovely thatched cottages. A brook runs through the picturesque centre. We have a thriving Community Shop selling good-quality basics (and some luxuries). There are two lovely pubs within easy walking distance of the Hut, and other good pubs and restaurants we'd also recommend within ten minutes' drive. The main roads A14 and M11 are within five and fifteen minute drives respectively. Train stations at nearby St Neots (twenty minutes drive away) or Cambridge will get you into London in under an hour. Cambridge is a 15 minute drive from Elsworth (though not in rush-hour, when it can take much longer to get in). We have two dogs who are friendly and curious and will probably say hello if they are out and about in the garden when you arrive. Our chickens roam free in the garden. If we are not able to welcome you when you first arrive, there is a key safe near the entrance gate to the Hut and the code will be sent to you by text before you arrive.
