Martyr Worthy Home with a View
Situated at the end of a lane with the river as your neighbour, the accommodation is set in beautiful cottage gardens. With walks on your doorstep and local village pubs, you have the benefit of a peaceful rural location and the convenience of being close to the historic city of Winchester and the attractive Georgian town of Alresford. Our recently completed annexe has two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room with kitchen area, and balcony with river views and terrace. It has been finished to a very high standard. The annex has a separate entrance and is entirely private but we are right next door if you need anything. An unheated swimming pool is available to guests from mid-April to end of September. The main house was built around 1600 and is grade II listed. Close to the beautiful river Itchen, which you can see from your balcony, while enjoying breakfast, or a drink outside. There is ample parking on site for guests. The garden and pool facilities will be shared with our family. The pool is not heated and is deep so care must be taken. The kitchen area comprises of induction hob, fan oven, toaster, Nespresso machine and kettle, fridge with freezer compartment and dishwasher. The washing machine is situated in the garage below and can be used if needed for longer stays. The sitting room has a really comfy corner sofa with large screen TV with full Sky package and Netflix. An ideal place to put your feet up and chill. Both bedrooms have king size beds. All bedding and towels are of excellent quality as well as the mattresses. Our place is next door so although your space (including balcony and terrace) is private, I am on hand should you need me. We are in a quiet rural area of Hampshire with local walks on your doorstep, beautiful woods nearby and you can see the river from your balcony. As you will see from the pictures we are in a great spot for photography. The river area is a site of special scientific interest, with lots of birds, fish and even otters have been spotted. Many people visit us when booking fishing trips nearby (the river next door) and fishing trips/tuiton can also be booked through Orvis who arrange them locally. Lots of walks for all ages and abilities - ending in good country pubs. Two good pubs are in short walking distance across the field. There are plenty of others nearby, a short drive away as well. You have the attractions of Winchester in one direction and the beautiful Georgian town of Alresford with shops, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs in the other. There is a local bus service although as we are very rural it is not that frequent. A taxi to Winchester would be roughly £10-£12 one way. Alresford is a 10 minute drive in the opposite direction. If you need recommendations for restaurants, coffee shops, walks or places of interest to visit just look at our guidebook or feel free to ask. We have a dog (see photo of Mowgli) he is very friendly, if you happen to meet him. Normally he is in our house asleep on the sofa :-) Washing machine and ironing facilities available on request.
