This fairy-tale cottage is situated in one of the loveliest villages along the famous Route des Chaumieres (Thatched Cottage Route). It is located in Eure, near the border with Calvados and Seine-Maritime. The cottage has four bedrooms and can sleep up to 8 people. There is a garden of about an acre running from the cottage down to the banks of the Seine River. The village is within the Boucles de la Seine national park, and there are cycling and hiking trails along the river and into the forests from the doorstep. Less than an hour to Honfleur, Deauville, Etretat, Le Havre and Rouen, the pebble beaches of the Alabaster Coast and the sandy beaches of the Cote Fleurie. A perfect base for walking, cycling, golf, horseback riding, and exploring Norman history, culture and gastronomic delights. The cottage has four bedrooms and can sleep up to 8 people plus a child in a cot. There is wheelchair access to the ground floor bedroom which has twin beds and an ensuite shower room and W.C. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, each with a double bed, and a shower room with W.C. There is wifi in the cottage, but please note, the connection is weaker than in most urban areas. The village is not cabled and internet connections are weak. We have a satellite connection, and the signal can be very poor if the weather is cloudy / rainy. and at the best of times the speed is much slower than would be normal in Paris or London. Outside is a one-acre garden, mostly lawn, leading from the cottage down to the River Seine. Patio with barbecue and furniture to sit on and watch the boats go by on the river. Lovely views. Normandy beaches start a 30 minute drive away. Miles of smooth, clean sand and friendly seaside towns such as Deauville and Trouville. Normandy D-Day beaches along same coastline. Going north are the beautiful pebble beaches at Etretat, Fecamp and Saint-Valéry-en-Caux as painted by Monet and the Impressionists. Normandy has some of the best courses in France. Nearby courses include Etretat, Saint-Saens and Jumièges. There is an excellent range of friendly shops including bakery and butcher within 10 minutes drive. There are top-notch restaurants ranging from family to Michelin star in nearby towns. Large and good supermarket at Pont-Audemer. Weekly market on Mondays and Fridays in Pont-Audemer. Booking notes Refundable damage deposit payable before arrival. Linens and towels included in cleaning fee. All areas of the house can be accessed apart from a few cupboards marked 'private'. There is parking for two cars in the driveway. Available by phone, and our housekeeper lives very close by and is available as needed.
