Unique modern-country cottage, Ashbourne

This quaint cottage is situated in the vibrant market town of Ashbourne, and is well-suited to visitors with a wide range of social and sporting interests, due to its prime location at the beginning of the Tissington Trail. Upon entry, the property unwraps to an open-plan kitchen/diner and living space, which provides the perfect setting for plotting the day's activities or tucking into a delicious home-cooked meal. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, freezer, electric cooker (double-oven, 4-ring electric hob), microwave, toaster, kettle and dishwasher. In addition, there is an array of cookery utensils and crockery pieces. Each individual bedroom is furnished in a modern-country style, with a Super Kingsize double bed (which have the option of being split into 2x single beds). Every room also benefits from its own independent sitting area, complete with Smart TV. NB: The property is accessed via a shared passageway off the high street, followed by about 8-10 stone steps (not suitable for wheelchair users), into a private patio area with secure bike store. We want you all to be aware of the dangers of going to the garden or round the back of the big grey shed, it’s a very big drop! Please, please be responsible and keep to the patio area: the garden above does not belong to the cottage. PARKING: There is a residents parking permit in the guest folder. With that you can park in the closest car park to the cottage, by the leisure centre and at the start of the Tissington Trail..... just 100 yds on the right, down the road opposite the gate to Tunnel Cottages. The permit is valid after 4 pm and before 11am, technically giving you overnight parking. If you use the permit, please leave back in the folder when you depart. One additional permit may be available on request. (Non-returned/damaged permits will have to be paid for) There is also free parking on the road by the school, opposite St Oswald’s Church. If you have a problem, you can also call us for details on private parking. There will be someone available nearby and by phone throughout your stay for any queries/emergencies, however we will not encroach on your visit any more than is necessary, and are led by the guest. The property is a short 15-minute drive from Carsington Water, which is a favourite location for walkers, cyclists, anglers and those interested in paddle sports. A little further afield is the National Trust-owned Dovedale. This is one of the most stunning valleys in the Peak District, with walking paths consistently offering up a showreel of incredibly scenic views. Also owned by the National Trust is Ilam Park, which has an incredible 158 acres of striking country parkland, visitor centre and tearoom. Ashbourne itself boast a quirky and varied range of antique shops, tearooms, wine bars, pubs and restaurants ready to be explored. The main bus stops (known as the "bus station") are less than 200 metres from the property. CHILDREN: As such strong “family people”, we wanted to make our reasoning for restricting small children clear. We have done this as there are the stone steps to access the cottage, open plan areas and multiple open staircases inside the property, and as you can see on the photos a drop off of the patio to the tunnel on the trail (it is fenced off). We have not child-proofed the cottage, and would hate to be responsible for any injury. We also have not made provision for cots, highchairs etc. As such, we do not currently accept reservations with children below 8 years of age. Sorry for any disappointment caused!
