Old Drift House
Award winning 5 star retreat in the picturesque medieval village of Kersey only 90 minutes from London. A real home-from-home atmosphere with a traditional English pub 200 yards away. An idyllic 'chocolate box' thatched cottage dating back over 500 years. It is steeped in character with exposed beams in every room, inglenook fireplaces, lead-light windows and a bread oven. Sensitively updated to modern standards it is ideally placed to explore the many local attractions including the Saxon burial site at Sutton Hoo, Lavenham Guildhall, Long Melford Hall, Kentwell Hall, Colchester Roman remains, and the famous seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold. Kersey is in a walker's and cyclist's paradise for those so inclined, or you can just stay put and relax in quiet and splendid comfort. Guests have access to the whole house and secluded garden. Guests will be met on arrival and departure, and will have a phone number to call if required. This part of south Suffolk is ideal for a short break, and offers either peace and quiet for a relaxing get-away, or activity for everyone highlighted in a "Days Out" folder in the house. Transit to the house is easier by car, but train stations at Colchester and Ipswich are about a 30 minute taxi ride away. The airport at Stanstead and the port at Harwich are both about 40 minutes away. There is ample parking at the house and in the lane. All information about the house can be found on our website.
