"Punga Lodge" the Mountain Sanctuary

Punga Lodge is 20 mins SE of Cambridge 10 mins from Lake Karapiro, hosting everything from Rowing World Cups to Hydroplane racing, waterski comps and triathalons. It is 20 mins away from Hobbiton and the entrance to MEI Sanctuary. Being 1 hr drive from Raglan, Mt Maunganui, Taupo and Rotorua. We aim to provide clean and comfortable indoor outdoor living while enjoying beautiful views, peace and tranquility whilst relaxing in your own mountain hideaway with amazing stargazing opportunities. Punga lodge is very quiet and peaceful with small a large deck for relaxing.There are 2 cabins, one with living area, kitchen, sofa bed and separate bedroom and another one with private bathroom facilities.The views would be among the best in the Waikato. Keep in mind this is small space living at it's best. Guests can use the laundry facilities in our house loctaed at the back door if needed. Maungatautari Mountain ecological sanctuary is only a stones throw from the lodge, or 20 minutes by car to the southern enclosure .The Waikato River Trails is 15 minutes away to the start which can take you all the way to Taupo. Hamilton Gardens are 20 minutes by car and is the Waikato's most popular place to visit. Hobbiton is 20 minutes away and Rotorua, Tauranga and Raglan are all an hour by car. Karapiro Domain is 10 minutes to the main gate. Buses stop in Cambridge from all over NZ and we can provide a pick-up from there. These buildings were once on the beachfront at Scandretts Bay as part of a family bach. Built in the early 70's they were bedroom and bathroom facilities.Relocated and reclad, relined and redecorated they now provide accommodation for intrepid travellers. There is plenty of room to park cars and boats.
