Recently converted, THE CHAPEL is located in the picturesque village of Ubley, between Bristol and Bath. Oozing character & original features such as the organ, pulpit and stained glass window, the furnishings are contemporary in style with rich Victorian colours and accents of copper and brass throughout. With Sonos sound system and grand piano it's a very unique and sophisticated space to spend a weekend or longer, exploring the stunning surrounding area or simply relaxing and doing nothing. The main church hall is a light and spacious area with high vaulted ceiling and enormous chandelier suspended over the room. A glass and steel mezzanine gallery runs along the width of the room next to the stained glass window. From here you can simply sit in the calm and quiet and take in the scale of the room and the views across the fields and lake beyond. Underneath the gallery you'll find a grand piano, and in the room, original features such as the organ which still works, and the pulpit. An enormous, deep and comfy L shaped sofa allows you to sink into it whilst watching the 52" flat screen TV. This room really comes to life at night, with the warmth of the rich decoration and furnishings glow with the clever lighting details. The Shaker style kitchen is also a very big space with a large central island and features special wooden swing out stools to sit on making it a very sociable room. The dark contemporary tones of the kitchen blend beautifully with the classic English touches of the original butchers block and brass fixtures. The entire space of the property is done to a very high finish with lovely sympathetic detailing throughout and would suit two couples looking to spend a weekend or a week in this truly unique space. Guests will have access to the entire property. I might not be available all of the time but there will be someone on hand to help out with any questions or queries if required to come to the property. Ubley is a really pretty village, with a lovely street that meanders down to the heart of the village with pretty stone cottages and houses and the 13th centruy church. It's location makes it the perfect village to use as a base to explore the surround countryside, the Chew Valley and its two lakes, famous for trout fishing and bird watching, and the Mendip Hills popular for cycling and hiking. If you're more into the idea of taking it easy then there are some very good places to eat. Just 5 minutes away Blagdon, home to organic farmers Yeo Valley, have recently opened their HQ Cantine to the public and The Ethicurian in Wrington has a menu provided only by ingredients produced within their Victorian walled garden - both recently featured in Michel Roux Secret Restaurants TV series. There is a lovely traditional country pub in the next village, Compton Martin (a 15 minute walk across the fields) The Ring O Bells has a lovely garden and they offer a seasonal menu of great home cooked food. There is also The Pony & Trap with a Michelin Star, and The Pig Nr Bath if you fancy a treat and a cocktail or two. There are also plenty of places to visit, the historic city of Bath, Wells, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves. The nearest train stations are Bristol or Bath. Both are the same distance, approx 25 minutes by car. Bristol Airport is just a 20 minute drive. There isn't any private parking outside The Chapel, but you can unload directly outside and then move your car/s to a space nearby. The garden at The Chapel has a footpath which can be used by local walkers and ramblers to access the field behind The Chapel. The path isn't used very often and has never proved to be a problem at all with guests when staying as there is plenty of other space to use for this not to be an issue.
