Wood Cottage
The Cottage is made of both wood and traditional cement with stucco siding. It is tucked into the wood by the stream at the end of the property. It features a large central room with exposed beams, working wood-burning fireplace, ample living area, galley kitchen and dining area, two bedrooms and one bath with a custom-made deep tub with a shower. There is a gorgeous in-ground pool surrounded by trees and a deck for the guests. This is a special house: it is hidden away, private, surrounded by nature, undisturbed. Our guests have enjoyed night-time owl watching from the patio and the feeling that they are far away from the bustle and technology of everyday life. The house takes its name from the ancient spring that originates in the one-time Etruscan settlement, now Cesano Borgo, in the tufa bed some 20 feet below it. While the precipice is carefully fenced off, there is a unique cliff-top view. The stream that borders our back yard is home to other Etruscan grottos. The oak canopy over the house’s terracotta-tiled roof along with the ferns and chestnut and hazelnut trees that grow in the valley surround the house in pastoral tranquillity. Guest have free access to the garden, swimming pool that is open from 1/6 to 30/9 and private parking area at the top of the property. Contact the owner for any needs by call. The sea is about 40 minutes away and even closer are the area’s pristine volcanic lakes. The lakes Bracciano and Martignano can be reached in less than 15 minutes. They are unspoiled natural paradises with lake-front beach areas to stretch out in the sand, rent a canoe, kayak or sailboat and have a freshly caught fish lunch. Hiking and biking trails abound as the area is surrounded by the parks of Veio, Bracciano-Martignano and Sorbo. Go by train to St. Peter's or take the car. Either way, it's about 35 minutes. The property is ideally located about 1.25 miles (2 km) from the commuter train and 1 mile (1.6 km) from the Cassia Bis, which leads to the G.R.A., the ring road that surrounds Rome's center, in about 10 minutes. The immediate surrounding areas were once settled by the Etruscans and there are countless sites to visit and explore. There are numerous charming medieval towns to visit within a 5-30 minute drive. The place has all of the advantages of being in a major city without the headaches. Its location allows a peaceful suburban-like existence with no traffic while being in one of the world's most breathtaking cities. Less than five minutes away are four supermarkets, countless food shops, clothing stores, specialty shops, three shopping centers, restaurants, etc. The place is also five minutes away from the international golf and country clubs. The train that goes to the center of Rome is a little over a mile away. The train goes to St. Peter's and both Metro A and B lines every 15 minutes for 1.50 euros, with free parking at the station. The property is in a residential area, but with the olive grove and the stream as borders on two sides, it feels more like the country.
