Ideal base to explore the Highlands and the North Coast 500 route. Central Strathpeffer location, convenient to local amenities. We carry out careful cleaning and disinfecting of all hard surfaces and frequently touched areas to help protect our guests and ourselves from the Covid-19 virus. Should any current Government guidelines change and we are unable to continue to let the property we would offer you a date change or a full refund. WEST WING is all on one level and there's plenty of room for up to 4 guests. This comfortable & well equipped self-catering holiday apartment has plenty of room to relax. Annexed to the owner's house, it's set in the shared courtyard grounds of Mackenzie House. Large garden with picnic bench available for guests use. Private off-road parking at the door. Easy 5 minute stroll to the village centre of Strathpeffer. Beautiful Victorian former spa village with cafes & restaurant, deli, gift-shops, museums, bicycle shop, small local supermarket, pharmacy. There are two other holiday lets here, so there will be other guests around but all properties are private from each other and all have their own front doors and parking areas so social distancing is easy. No pets permitted. No smoking. Motorhomes by prior arrangement. West Wing is self-contained and has it own front door entrance and private off-street parking for one car. There's free street parking for additional vehicles. We live next door in the main house and are available for help and advice on most things Highland - from day trips, activities, sightseeing spots and beaches, restaurants etc. Generally we take the lead from our guests - if you're looking to be independent and do your own thing, that's fine, but we are happy to have chat and get to know people too. Local Amenities Along with its beautiful Victorian architecture, cafes, restaurant, gift-shops, bicycle shop (bike hire available), museums, tourist information point and 18 hole golf course, Strathpeffer also has a small well stocked groceries shop and post-office, a deli for fresh local bakery products. The nearest (24) hour supermarkets are in Dingwall, 5 miles away, or you could arrange to have your groceries delivered from Tesco, Sainsbury or Asda supermarkets for your arrival. Activities There's plenty of walks and cycling routes to enjoy around Strathpeffer offering fantastic views of Mid-Ross & Cromarty. From mountains, beaches, ancient Pictish standing stones, outdoor adventure activities, the Loch Ness Monster, castles, whisky distilleries and micro-breweries, hill-walking, island hopping, mountaineering, fishing, sailing, dolphins, golden eagles, ospreys and red kites, golfing, wild-flowers, lochs, islands and sunsets - if it's not right on our doorstep it's all easily reached within an hours drive or less. Loch Ness, BlackIsle Peninsula, Moray Firth, West Coast, Gairloch, Applecross, Ullapool, Inverness, Dornoch, Nairn, Aviemore, Cairngorm National Park, John O'Groats, Thurso, Cape Wrath, Isle of Skye, Fort William, Durness, Stornoway and the Outer Hebrides - some of these places are a day trip and are well worth making the effort to visit but of course you can also just relax and do very little. Strathpeffer is only 20 miles (25 minutes drive) from Inverness which has easy access by road, rail and the following airports – London Gatwick or Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, London Luton, London City, Belfast and Amsterdam. There is a regular bus service to/from Inverness & Dingwall and also over to the West Coast to Ullapool. The nearest rail station is in Dingwall. The central heating throughout the property is supplied by a wood pellet boiler and is timed to be on during the day from 06:30am until 11:30pm to keep you cosy. It's not on overnight but there are back-up electric heaters in case it's particularly cold. Each radiator is adjustable using the thermostatic valve on the side. Linens and towels are provided and extra blankets are available. Travel Cot/bedding and High Chair available on request.
