Privately located in the secluded grounds of a Beautiful Somerset Manor House, Stable Cottage stands alone overlooking the Victorian Stable Yard. The Cottage is independent from the House but enjoys the grounds and many of the views. The cottage interior is beautifully designed for an extremely comfortable stay - please read all reviews - we love being hosts and will do all we can to accommodate special requests for special occasions like anniversaries, birthdays, weddings by supplying flowers, chocolates, sparkling wine. Convenient for Millfield or en route to Exeter, Devon and Cornwall. TV, Wifi and internet We try to meet and greet all of our guests, failing that Mina our Housekeeper is usually on hand. We are always at the end of the phone or usually somewhere in the main house or garden for any questions that need answering. Located in the heart of the beautiful Somerset levels, we are surrounded by historic Somerset villages, Curry Rivel, Muchelney, Drayton and Langport. We are 20 minutes from Millfield and Taunton Schools, the well known shopping village of Street and Glastonbury Tor is definitely worth a visit. There are national trust homes to visit as well as Cidar farms, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole. Beautiful walks and cycle rides along the river of Langport where you can stop for lunch at the cafe on the river. There is a village stores just yards away the brilliant Firehouse Pub and a small Tesco’s, award winning bakers and butchers in Langport 1 mile away where, on a Friday morning, is the village market and fish van who brings fresh fish straight up from the south coast. All in all there is plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. The Bus stop is walking distance. Taunton railway is approximately 25 mins, as is Yeovil Junction and Castle Cary. Bristol and Exeter Airports 1 hour. We are 12 mins from A303 and the M5. 2.5 hours from Cornwall. Millfield School in Street is approximately 15-20 mins away and there is a taxi which goes there if needed. Street Shopping Village is in the same town - a quick 15-20 drive away. Wells is a beautiful town to visit, it has a good array of independent shops and a stunning cathedral. It is approximately 35 minutes from Stable Cottage. You can walk and cycle to local pubs and cafes but we do not supply bikes but happy for you to bring them! The cottage is located over our stable yard and therefore we have a strictly non smoking policy in and around the property. There are two local pubs which we highly recommend and are always happy to book for dinners out for our guests. The Devonshire Arms in Long Sutton is a 10 min drive but worth it and The Firehouse in Curry Rivel is less than 1 mile up the road. Both offer a warm welcoming interior with excellent menus. The Firehouse also has an earlybirds menu which is served between 5.45pm-7pm which is particularly hand if you have children and is excellent value.
