Lovely hiking/skiing apartment Champex Lac Valais

This lovely, comfortable apartment in the village has panoramic views of the lake, valley and mountains. It is perfect for uncrowded slopes in winter, for families, couples and off-piste skiers, as well as cross-country skiers, and is only a short drive from Verbier and other wonderful resorts. In the summer Champex is a great base for a hiking holiday, and is on the famous Tour de Mont Blanc route as well as being a major stop on the Ultra Trail. Champex truly is a special place! This is our much loved holiday apartment in the mountains which we would like to share with you. Champex is one of Switzerland's best-kept secrets, with views which will take your breath away. The flat overlooks the lake where in winter you can hire ice-skates and twirl with the locals, or just go for a walk, and in summer you can swim (for the brave! it's cold!) or hire a rowing boat or pedalo. There are three bedrooms, including a small room with two single beds which is ideal for children. There is a double sofa bed in the living room too. We also keep a travel cot and high chair in the cellar, so please let us know if you need these. You will be able to park in our outdoor car parking spot directly outside the building, parking spot number 12 (even though our apartment is number 8!) This is our second home so unfortunately we won't be able to meet you to welcome you but we have a lovely lady, Sarah, who is American but also speaks French, to give you the key. She lives in the village and is on hand if you need any help at all during your stay. Champex is an ideal location to get away from it all. The views are simply spectacular and you can while away hours just looking out of the window or sitting on the balcony! As well as some great skiing in the winter (great nursery slope, plenty of action for intermediates and a challenging black slope for the experts, as well as its renowned off-piste skiing), in the summer Champex is equally beautiful. Hiking is of course extremely popular and we are lucky to be on the Ultra Trail of Mont Blanc, meaning it is well known in the walking world. The restaurants are many for a village of its size, serving delicious, hearty and traditional Swiss food and local wines, perfect after a day's skiing or walking. There is a supermarket in the village which stocks everything you need, even fondue cheese to order. There are very regular and reliable buses up and down the mountain to Orsières with train connections to Martigny and Geneva. With a car you can very easily be on the Verbier cable car within half an hour where you can ski a wide variety of slopes to your heart's content without having to go into Verbier village to queue. Snow chains and/or winter tyres are really essential for driving in the snow but if you are hiring a car at the airport these will be supplied.
