A romantic old village house located in the heart of the Karst region, in the small village of Krajna vas, near Sezana and Dutovlje. It is a traditional dry stone building, over 250 years old, which has been sensitively renovated. During the winter time until May the house is unavailable for reservations. The large courtyard enclosed by stone walls was built for security and protection from the north wind. After a day’s sightseeing, it will give you privacy to relax beneath the shade of three old walnut trees. The Karst area is the Slovenian Provence or Tuscany...with small hilltop villages surrounded by vineyards, meadows and green oak forests. You will feel good here! Whole house. Ground & first floor. There is a well equipped kitchen with dining room, 2 bathrooms, 3 further rooms and a balcony and the large enclosed courtyard... Our guests can enjoy complete privacy but we’re always within reach if you need us, whether for advice or just a friendly chat. We follow the simple rules of the local people. It only takes 25 minutes to reach the Adriatic coast, where you can swim or visit the Italian town of Trieste, romantic Miramare Castle (...), Duino Castle, where the poet Rilke wrote his poetry, Slovene Piran, birthplace of the composer Tartini, Seča saltpans and much much more. Lipica stud farm, home of the famous Lipizzaner horses, is a mere 20 minutes away, where you can go horseback riding or play golf. We’re only 30 minutes from spectacular Postojna and Skocjan caves (UNESCO heritage) and even Ljubljana, the Slovene capital, with all it has to offer especially in the summer, can be reached in an hour. Those that want an active holiday will also find all they want within easy reach: rafting on the beautiful Soča, canyoning, climbing, cycling – there may not be everything on offer in the immediate vicinity but we’ll certainly do our best to help you find what you want, and enjoy doing so because we’re proud of our small corner.
