A modern, elegantly furnished and comfortable studio flat in the beautifully historic village of Culross. The studio has an open plan layout which means that it is beautifully light and airy with unbeatable views across the village and the Firth of Forth. The property benefits from a home gym, secure parking and mountain bikes for rent. A truly ideal spot in one of Scotland's most picturesque, 17th century villages. Don't take our word for it though - look at our reviews from recent stays! The main house, The Tanhouse (circa (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , sits within a large corner plot and the Studio flat is situated at some distance away from the house so guests will have complete seclusion for the duration of their stay. The property benefits from secure parking at the studio flat. The studio itself has an open plan layout which means that it is beautifully light and airy with unbeatable views across the village and the Firth of Forth. The studio has a king size bed and a 2 seater sofa and armchair which are ideal for watching the 32' TV + DVD/CD player. There is also a small selection of films, and games in an attempt to cover all entertainment needs. The kitchen area houses a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, mini oven/grill/air fryer and a 2 burner hob. A table and chairs are situated at the end of the kitchen with ample room for 2 guests to eat (all crockery and cooking utensils are available). If the weather is nice (Scotland dependent...) there is a private outside seating area for guests which takes in spectacular view across the forth. The usual selection of crockery, pots etc is provided (as are basic cooking ingredients; oil, salt, pepper, tea coffee etc.) If you plan on eating out in the evenings we would highly recommend booking at the local pub (The Red Lion.) During the summer months there are 4 lovely cafes in the village and (usually) a small market on the village green on Sundays. The shower-room has an electric corner shower, velux window, toilet and hand basin. All linen, soaps, towels etc. will be provided by your hosts in addition to soap etc. We have a clothes washing machine that long term guests are free to use. We have 2 mountain bikes (and two helmets) that can be hired for minimal daily charge so that guests can explore the area by bike! We also have a full home gym that guests can access. The gym has a running machine, rowing machine, kettle bells and a punch bag which are free to use for guests (guests are asked NOT TO USE the turbo bike set up). We offer our guests free range eggs from our chickens and (hopefully) a selection of home made jams from our vegetable/fruit garden (please note that this depends on availability!). A welcome pack is provided with local information, a detailed plan of local walks and a guidebook. Guests have a private outdoor seating and garden area. We ask that guests please do not stray into the grounds of the main house, the vegetable garden or the main gardens. We try and be on hand to welcome guests but due to work commitments this may not always be possible. We are always contactable on the phone if required (calls, sms, (Hidden by Airbnb) etc.). We want all of our guests to relax and feel at home during their stay. Culross is truly unique place to stay. A village which time has passed by; the most complete example in Scotland today of a Burgh of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Most famously, in recent years at least, the town has been used as a key filming spot for the famous Outlander television series. A stay in town is an absolute must for fans of the television show which acts as the fictional village of Cranesmuir. There are countless things to do in Fife and the surrounding area. For golfers we are within an easy commute of many courses - Glen Eagles and St. Andrews are both within an hour's drive. For motor sport enthusiasts Knockhill Race Circuit is only a short drive away. The Falkirk Wheel and the giant Kelpies are also close by and ensure a unique experience. as is the whicky distillery at Deanston. We're a great place to stay for hikers - these are countless forest and riverside walks from our doorstep (we provide a map of the local area/hikes). Slightly further afield (25 mins drive) are the Ochil Hills and Lomond Hills (30 minutes drive) which offer fantastic hiking experiences. For those keen to bag a Munro (or two!) the Crainlarich hills are around a (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) minute drive away, or the Arrochar Alps (Loch Lomond), can be reached in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) minutes. The village is ideally situated overlooking the Forth Tributary. Edinburgh and Glasgow are only short drives away (approx. 40 minutes door to door). There are also good motorway links close by leading to the North; Perth, Aberdeen and Inverness are all reachable for a day trip. This makes us a great base for sight-seeing, and offers quick access to the Highlands. We would highly recommend guests have access to a car as public transport is not brilliant in a small village. Guests should be aware that there is no grocery shop in the village. There is an excellent supermarket in Kincardine (CO-OP) about 10 minute's drive away and a small shop in High Valleyfield (5 minute drive). We will, however, supply cooking basics. The studio has a micro-oven but not a specific oven - please bear this in mind when booking. We have a dog (springer spaniel) who lives on the property. He's friendly but if you have allergies or are afraid of dogs please let us know.
