Rural holiday gîte in the French Midi-Pyrenees

The gite is set in the beautiful, rolling landscape in the foothills of the Pyrenees, where the departments of the Ariege and the Aude meet. We are perfectly located for exploring the riches of the Languedoc and the Midi-Pyrenees regions and only 10 minutes away from the beautiful mediaeval, bastide town of Mirepoix, with its spectacular covered walkways, twice weekly markets, numerous restaurants, bars and pavement cafés. The gite is situated on the first floor and has been equipped and furnished to a high standard to provide a comfortable and stylish holiday retreat. The kitchen area includes a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The holiday property has a large open plan living space opening onto the south-facing balcony; the garden has tables and chairs a barbeque and some much-needed shade. The pool area has sunny lounging area and an under cover sitting area. The gite is perfectly located only 45 minutes from the nearest ski resort and 90 minutes from the sea. Carcassonne airport can be reached in only 40 minutes and Toulouse airport in about 65 minutes. The most popular activities in its unspoilt surroundings are walking, cycling, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing, rock climbing, swimming and bathing. Take the D119 to Mirepoix (43km), at Mirepoix cross l'Hers river and after 50m turn left, after 800m turn left again at the crossroad taking the D626 in the direction of Limoux, after 6km and just before Moulin Neuf turn right (D507) this is Route de Lagarde, we are 50m on the right. (Do not take the road up to Roumengoux) From Toulouse Blagnac airport 100km. Head onto D902 take the exit on the left toward A62/A61Montpellier merge onto A624 keep right at the fork, follow signs for E09/A61 Montpellier and merge onto A620/E09 continue to follow A620 for 11.2 km L'Autoroute des Deux Mers (signs for A61 Carcassonne) toll road. Continue onto A61after 46.8 km take exit 21-Castelnaudary, after 1.4 km keep right at the fork and follow signs for D6 Mirepoix. After 22 km turn right at D119 to Mirepoix, from here follow as above.
