During the 5 weeks of Advent. The two most famous Christmas markets in the department are those of Obernai and Strasbourg. Obernai For the former, it is an 18-minute drive. Park on the road to Boersch, the car parks in the center are full during this period. Strasbourg For the second, it is highly recommended to go there by train. The city center (which is an island) is completely closed to cars during the 5 weeks before the Christmas market lasts. You can take the train at different stations: opt for a ticket to Strasbourg from Heiligenberg - Mollkirch station in winter. You will be in Strasbourg city center in less than 45' by train. Other markets, a little further, are definitely worth a visit. Almost all take place in remarkable towns / villages, which have been named the most beautiful villages in France or are still essential places to visit in the region: - Riquewihr (47') - Kaysersberg (59') - Colmar (1hr) - Eguisheim (1hr). These 4 cities are close to each other. You can do 2 of these markets in the same day. Finally, in Grendelbruch itself, you have a small Christmas market in front of the town hall, opposite the church. Here you can enjoy mulled wine and also admire the lively nativity scene in the church.
