The Art Cottage - a stunning 2 bedroom cottage (sleeps 5) in the centre of idyllic Wellow, 5 miles from Bath in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Entirely private, French doors lead from sitting room and main bedroom onto a private south facing terrace, large garden and lovely valley views. Furnished in beautiful fabrics, furniture, Oka accessories and Farrow & Ball accents, the cottage is hung entirely with the art by Emma Rose - see The Art Studio next door. Netflix/Beauty/Cosy/Fun The cottage sleeps 5. One king-sized double bed with french windows leading onto a private terrace/garden/views. One Single bed room and a double sofa bed. There is a large sitting room and dining area - again with french doors looking directly onto the garden and south facing valley beyond. Very beautiful. There is a bathroom, with bath/shower, and luxury toiletries. A charming kitchen and also a utility room with washer/dryer and large extra fridge freezer. Wellow is a very special village - famous for its beautiful setting, Fox & Bardger - gastro pub, trekking centre, packhorse bridge, medieaval church and community run village shop. Perfect for romantic couples. Walkers and cyclists will be in heaven. Culture vulutures will love Bath and the surrounding area. Artists will be inspired. The cottage is situated next to award winning artist, Emma Rose's Studio. All the artwork in the cottage is for sale. Our house is across the garden, and we are here if you need us. We have a dog Kizzy, a Lurcher. You are welcome to walk her. You will be renting the entire cottage and the large garden behind it, along with private terrace and beautiful valley views. The cottage is situated down a drive off the main road. Very quiet, and it is worth noting there are no street lights in Wellow (wonderful for star watching). A torch and umbrella are provided in the cottage. You are a minutes walk from our gastro pub and a couple of minutes from the community run village shop. We will provide essentials - milk and wine. There is normally sugar/tea/coffee in the cupboards with extras. We won't disturb guests at all. However we do live next door (detached and away), so are here if there are any queries - and you must ask - we really want your stay to be happy. You are welcome to come into the art studio opposite the cottage. Wellow is an idyllic gem of a village on the southernmost tip of the Cotswold AONB. It was named Most Desirable Village by the Sunday Times in 2015. It is in deep countryside, yet only 5 miles from Bath and 5 minutes drive from the Park&Ride. It has a fabulous gastro-pub, Mediaeval Church, pack-horse bridge, Trekking Centre and Village shop, school and playing fields. The twin tunnels cycle track (N24) takes you straight into Bath. The walking around this area is second to none. There is so much to do nearby: Walk around the village - see the Medeaval Church, the Packhorse Bridge/Brook, the Childrens play park (traditioal swings and slides, and an outside gym). A stroll will take you up to the Long Barrow up near Stony Littleton (take a torch) - this is a Neolithic chambered tomb with multiple burial chambers. Walk to Combe Hay and go to the luscious Wheatsheaf Pub. Cycle from Wellow into Bath on the Twin Tunnels cycle track. Drive to Mells, Norton St Phillip, Hinton St George and Bradford On Avon - all just 10/15 mins away for beautiful scenery, lovely shops, canal walks. Freshford Village is very charming too - also with a vibrant shop and pub. It also boasts a local trainline into Bath and around the South West. Iford Manor and Gardens are 10 minutes away, and very near the wonderful Downside Nurseries for plants. Farleigh Hungerford Castle is only 15 minutes away. Longleat Safari Park and incredible house and grounds are only 25 minutes drive away. Cathedral City of Wells is only 40 minutes away. Glastonbury too is only 45 minutes drive Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole are also only 48 minutes away. You can walk all around our village with great ease. There is a village bus that takes you into Bath but it is a infrequent. Better to have a car - five minutes drive will take you to the Park&Ride and from there into the centre of Bath. Otherwise Taxis to and from Bath will be about £15. Bristol airport is only 45 minutes drive away, ditto M4/M3/M5. The Fox & Badger pub is a minutes walk away - delicious food and drink. (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Do book in advance for lunch/dinner (especially Sunday lunch) The Parlour Village shop is also a few minutes walk away, (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Mon-Fri 09:00 – 17:00, Sat 09:00 – 13:00 - you can pre-order food. The Wellow Trekking Centre is very near too. Pony Trekking, activities, petting animals, playarea and tea rooms.
