Our home is in the hamlet where Arthur Ransome, author of 'Swallows & Amazons' spent his childhood holidays. Today it still retains that old-world charm. We are a stone's throw from the lake, with woodlands & waterfalls on our doorstep. You can sit by a cosy fire or enjoy a walk/picnic on light evenings. We have made some Covid adjustments so that you feel reassured and safe . Do get in touch if you have any queries. Hearty breakfast... and super local walks....included in your stay! We have 2 lovely guest bedrooms, each with king-size beds. I provide fresh towels, shower & bath products, Wifi access & tea/coffee making facilities in your room. You can enjoy a hearty healthy breakfast, (with an additional cooked option on one or two days of your stay for no extra charge) . Vegetarian, Vegan, GF and other dietary requirements catered for. If the weather is nice you can enjoy your meals outside in the garden. The bathroom may occasionally be shared with myself or another guest during busy periods. However I am observing government and Air BnB recommendations for cleaning & sanitising. The house is spacious and well-ventilated which allows for social distancing if still required. I offer staggered breakfast times so that interaction can be kept to a minimum. I hope that these measures reassure you to come stay in our lovely little corner of Lakleland. . You are welcome to prepare your packed lunch &/or a simple evening meal, though of course you may prefer to visit one of the local pubs or restaurants; the nearest pub is the Red Lion ( a gentle 2 mile walk away if you're feeling energetic!) I can suggest other fab local pubs and restaurants if you message me. My home is yours for the duration of your stay. Enjoy the lounge with its log fire, the farmhouse-style kitchen and the garden- as well as the privacy of your own room. I am happy to chat and assist guests in any way to help them make the most of their visit to this special place. However, if you prefer peace, quiet and privacy there's plenty of opportunity for that. If you want to leave the car behind, just step out of the door! Explore the small pebbled beaches and coves at the southern end of the lake by foot or on your bike. The lovely National Trust steam boat 'Gondola' plies the lake and you can have a leisurely cruise, or perhaps visit Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin for over 30 years. If you want to climb the fells, the Old Man of Coniston and other famous Lakeland peaks are just up the road. We have ample parking space at the house. If you are coming without a car, we can usually arrange a lift from the nearest railway station, Ulverston. The area is ideal for mountain biking, kayaking and walking. Please note: we welcome guests from mid March through to early December but are usually closed over winter. We regret we do not accept children under 12 years. We FINALLY have fast fibre WiFi so you can enjoy your Netflix etc without buffering! However, be aware that mobile reception can be a little patchy depending on your provider.
