Jasmine Cottage
Jasmine Cottage is a very characterful, compact, detached barn conversion, that sits next to the 400 year old farm house. It sleeps up to four people, with a double and a twin room. We are one mile away from The Wise Man Inn - a super pub with great food; six miles from Dorset's stunning Jurassic coast and three miles from the county town of Dorchester. You will, however, need a car- or bikes! Sorry, no pets and no smoking. The cottage sits in the hamlet of Lewell, one mile from the village of West Stafford in Dorset. Off the quiet drive is ample parking in a gravelled courtyard. You have the entire cottage at your disposal and a private sunny garden and patio space. If you'd like to know more about the area or need anything at all during your stay, we are on hand most of the time and happy to help! Dorset is blessed with fantastic beaches and stunning scenery to suit keen walkers eager to take on a challenge, or those who come here simply to relax. Jasmine Cottage is three miles from the start of The Hardy Way - a 220 mile walking trail through Thomas Hardy's Wessex. Or for those who enjoy a quiet moment or two, there is a selection of books that you are welcome to read, or even swap one of mine for one you've just finished! You will need a car to get around, but you don't need to drive far to enjoy the coast or a delicious lunch in a picturesque village. We have a selection of Ordnance Survey maps that you are welcome to borrow to plan a hike or a bike ride, or to pick a beach or an award-winning local pub to while away the time. Since the cottage is part of a 400 year old building, there are small steps and changes in level where you'd least expect them. Added to this, the stairs leading to the double room on the first floor are narrow, with a rope handrail and this may pose a problem for people with mobility issues. Parents must be super-vigilant with small children, as the floors and walls are stone and again, climbing the narrow stairs to the main bedroom will be tricky and potentially dangerous for little legs. Being deep in rural Dorset, the WiFi is not at a city standard and can occasionally be patchy, especially in bad weather. However, we have satellite TV and plenty of board games at your disposal! Being situated in the rural countryside we have the benefit of wonderful wildlife - deer, pheasants, owls etc. We also have other wildlife - spiders, woodlice, beetles (which the hedgehogs adore!) etc. which although generally outdoors, at certain times of the year prefer to try to venture inside. Although every effort is put into removing any unwanted visitors, we cannot guarantee you won't get a visit, especially at night time if doors/windows are left open with the lights on inside.
