The Laurels
The Laurels offers one storey comfortable accommodation for young families; adults; and those wanting to explore the surrounding area. The lounge/dining room with patio doors overlooks the large, south facing, enclosed garden. As grandparents to a number of young children, we have toys and games for your use. 2 cots and 2 cotbeds are available by prior arrangement for young families and will easily fit as extras in the bedrooms. Sorry no pets / no smoking inside the property! The Laurels has a large private garden, which is ideal for a BBQ, a glass of wine and a place for the children to play. The kitchen is well fitted and equipped. The light and airy lounge, which overlooks the back garden, has TV with DVD player. Bedroom 1 can be set up as either a superking or twin bedded room. It has its own ensuite shower room, walk in wardrobe and TV. Bedroom 2 with king sized bed overlooks the garden. Bedroom 3 has a trundle bed with an underneath pull out single mattress. This can be set up as another single bed if needed. The tiled main bathroom has a corner suite bath with overhead shower. Washer/tumble drier and additional sink are available for your use in the utility room. Within walking distance is the beautiful Newstead Abbey Park as well as 3 pubs/restaurants; 3 young children's play areas; tennis courts; and shops including a delicatessen/butchers, pharmacy, supermarkets, and post office. The owners live next door and try to be on hand to welcome you upon your arrival. They are happy to respond to queries and to suggest suitable activities and places to visit. The village of Ravenshead is situated between Nottingham and Mansfield in the heart of Sherwood Forest. There are many lovely woodland walks within walking distance or a few minutes drive. Robin Hood attractions are only 15 minutes drive away. Other places of interest include the minster town of Southwell; Rufford and Wollaton Parks and Hardwick Hall. A little further afield is the National Civil War Centre; The National Holocaust Centre at Laxton; Chatsworth House; the Peak District and the beautiful cathedral city of Lincoln. Within 5 to 10 minutes drive, there are 3 excellent golf courses. The owners are members of 2 of them! Younger children will wish to visit the White Post Farm and Wheelgate Activity Park whilst older children may prefer Forest Pines/Go Ape and the National Watersports Centre. National Trust members can walk or cycle around Clumber Park, learn about life in The Southwell Workhouse, and visit Bolsover Castle. Good local transport links to Nottingham, Mansfield and Chesterfield run alongside the village. National cycle route 6 runs at the bottom of the garden and indoor storage for bicycles is available at the Laurels. The property is always thoroughly cleaned prior to the arrival of new guests. Since Covid 19, extra sanitising has been added to the cleaning schedule. Also cleaning and sanitising products are left in the property for your use. There is on site parking for up to 3 cars.
