An exceptional five-bedroom 17th century manor house in its own hectare of grounds at the edge of a hamlet in Poitou-Charentes. A tranquil setting in which to enjoy nature with friends and family; plenty of space to congregate as well as hideaway places to retreat; original stone staircase, playroom, library and TV room. Heated saltwater pool from May to September. Ground floor access to bedroom and bathroom for those with limited mobility. Perfect for three generation holidays! There are two entrances on the ground floor; the entrance we use every day leads into a sitting room with comfortable sofas and a wood burner. There is an office with two desks. The sitting room leads to the kitchen with a dining table with seating for ten (there are more chairs available). From the kitchen you enter the library which has two sofas (one of which is a sofa bed), plenty of books and a TV with French and UK TV channels. There is a bedroom with a double bed, a shower room and toilet on the ground floor as well as a laundry area. The library leads to the barn where there is a portable barbecue, extra sun loungers and an extra fridge for beer/wine. The stone staircase leads to the first floor where there are three bedrooms. Two bedrooms have double beds and one bedroom has two single beds. There is also a futon and a day bed with a barrier for small ones to sleep in. On the first floor there is a bathroom and a shower room as well as a play space (art room). On the second floor there is another bedroom with a double bed and an en suite bathroom. The garden has an outside table and chairs, the pool, hammocks, table tennis and a small lake. The owners live in the gite nearby so are available to help with pool maintenance, tips for what to do in the area as well as offer babysitting services. Guests have access to all parts of the house Owners live in gite next door to house. The hamlet is 5km from Melle with its Romanesque churches, arboretum, weekly market, supermarkets and the famed music venue Cafe de Boulevard. Local goat's cheese and honey are specialities. A car is essential; however there are some good local walking and cycling routes. Nearest airports: La Rochelle, Angouleme, Poitiers or Limoges.
