A quiet rural hideaway with lovely views. Excellent for families, walking holidays, road cycling and mountain biking. The house is situated in a tiny hamlet in a secluded part of the French countryside within easy reach of commercial centres and larger tourist towns like Thiers and Ambert. Spectacular autumnal colours and cosy winter hideaway. Barn with table tennis and table football. Stable for bike storage. There's also a large trampoline set-up in a play area in the garden. The 18th Century farm house kitchen and dining area features a lovely stone wall and wood burning stove opens to a sitting room. There is a great downstairs wet room, finished to the highest quality. There are three bedrooms, two of which have double beds, one with an en suite toilet. The other has four single beds. There are two high quality bathrooms. The upstairs living space also has a double sofa bed. There is a lovely verandah where you can watch the sun set over the mountains. Part of the huge barn has been converted to a games and table tennis space. Much of the furniture in the house has been constructed by a craftsman from trees felled on the property. There is easy access from the main road. You will have access to the land directly in front of the house and to the side, as well as use of the barn and stable attached to the house. You can walk around the hamlet freely. There will be someone to greet you when you arrive and show you around. We can be contacted by telephone throughout your stay. There is comprehensive indexed guest book which will answer most common queries and has details of local facilities. On leaving you will either be asked to lock up and leave the key in a safe place or one of us will be there to collect from you. This remote and tranquil location is unlike almost anywhere else in Europe. The area is a former agricultural society, only sparsely populated and the roads are extremely quiet. The commune is made up of small hamlets dotted around the surrounding hills. The autumn colours are spectacular and the local seasonal produce is exceptional. The ski resort of Chalmazel is close by, as is the cross country ski centre of Col de la Loge. In summer there are many places to visit and lac d'Aubusson a cultivated swimming lake is also nearby. You will need a car. The nearest Airport is Clermont-Ferrand about an hour's drive or Lyon approximately 2 hours drive to the house. The area is great for cycling to local village for bread and essential items. There are various supermarkets in nearby towns. In the colder months the entire house is comfortably heated from a log burning stove in the kitchen. A supply of wood can be found in the barn. There will be a small additional charge for firewood.
