Apartment with breath-taking views

The apartment is on the ground floor and has two bedrooms, a large living room/kitchen (incl. dishwasher) and a bathroom. Satellite TV (flatscreen) and Internet are available. There is a small pond for swimming next to the apartment. Our mountainside house is built on a large plot of forest and meadow land (6000 qm / 64,000 sq ft) in Jenesien (San Genesio), about 15 minutes from Bolzano, South Tyrol. Nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, among forests, hiking trails, secret footpaths and lush meadows, the house is set in a peacefully quiet clearing in the forest, right on the European long distance hiking trail E5 that connects Lake Constance (Bodensee) with Venice and Verona. There is plenty to keep you occupied: in the summer there are incredible hiking and mountain biking routes to be explored, you can visit wineries in nearby Bolzano, where you can also visit Oetzi – the Iceman. In winter you can snow-shoe hiking; please note that there is no skiing in our area, neither down-hill, nor cross-country. Our "neighbours" are five horses and we can arrange riding sessions for you if desired. The hiking region extends from San Genesio to Hafling and Merano. The Salto plateau, with its sweeping alpine meadows and larch woods, is just a few steps from our house. Hiking over the Salto will afford you panoramic views of the high mountain ridges nearby. During the spring, the crocuses are a sight for sore eyes. They are replaced in the summer by an abundance of mountain flora, and during the autumn the larches turn a riotous red-gold, carpeting the hiking paths with their russet needles. In the winter, of course, the region is ideal for hiking through the snow. The nearest ski resorts can be reached in 40 minutes by car. The bus stop is 5 minutes from the house; the shops and restaurants of San Genesio are about 8 minutes walk away and the cableway to Bolzano takes about 15 minutes. On-site parking is available for our guests. Towels and bed linen are provided, and upon your arrival you will also receive a hiking map of the region. We will also be happy to give you some hiking tips and recommend some good restaurants in Bolzano, San Genesio and the local area. The Langfenn, Lanzenschuster and Tschaufenhaus restaurants/cottages are all within 2 to 3 hours hiking distance and offer excellent and varied samples of South Tyrolean cuisine. Our house was featured in several German, Austrian and Italian architectural magazines in 2013 because of its self-sustaining energy supply and stunning countryside setting (see photograph in the "greenbuilding" magazine). On another note, please be aware that everything in South Tyrol is in two languages: Italian and German. Our village is called 'San Genesio' in Italian and 'Jenesien' in German. There is a bus stop nearby (5 minutes); the shops and restaurants of San Genesio are about 8 minutes walk away and the cableway to Bolzano takes about 15 minutes. The bus from/to Bolzano (bus number 156) runs every hour until 7pm. The apartment has got a high-speed Internet connection offering 38 MBps. for each download and upload. Access to the Internet is via WLAN and/or via cable (LAN); the WLAN can also be switched off completely.
