Bright, sunny apartment directly on the seafront in Kinghorn. Just 3 minutes walk from the train station and 35 minutes by train from Edinburgh, this is a delightful, relaxing retreat with access to the city still on hand. This is our second home and we have decided to open it up to airbnb. It has lots of home comforts including cosy beds, a comfy lounge with smart TV, fast wifi, large American Fridge, ice dispenser, microwave, washer dryer. Towels, bedding and essentials included. This apartment is on the second floor of a seafront building constructed in 1850. There are a total of 32 steps to get from the garden to the door. There is parking in residents spaces to the front of the building and a free public car park 50m behind the building. In the event of ice, snow or stormy conditions always park in the public car park behind as the road to the side of the house is steep and the sea can come over the wall at the front in stormy conditions . When it is not booked, this is our weekend retreat and we use it as often as we can. It has lots of nice things in it and we will be putting more in as time goes by. The American style fridge has an ice and water dispenser and the flat comes also with a washer dryer. Help yourselves to the items in our larder, all the basic cooking ingredients are there. The living room has a smart TV and sound box and a PS4. We also have Amazon Fire TV. We have fast wifi and the code is pinned to the noticeboard in the kitchen. We supply bathroom towels, soap, shampoo and shower gel. Guests can access everything in the flat. We ask you are responsible with the environment and re-use towels whenever possible. The dryer is not brilliant so it's usually better to hang clothes on the clothes horse in the window as it gets the sun all day and they dry quickly. We live in Edinburgh and usually use the flat at weekends when it isn't booked so we don't expect to meet but we will always be available through airbnb and can help out if there are any problems. We always send detailed joining instructions a day or two prior to arrival and explain how guests can access the accommodation. Kinghorn is a typical Fife village. You can hear the waves crashing on the beach outside. The seafront is always busy with neighbours and walkers. We are on the Fife Coastal Path, which stretches all the way around the ancient Kingdom. We are 3 minutes walk from Kinghorn Station with trains to Edinburgh every 30 minutes. The journey takes 35 minutes. The Kinghorn Chip Shop is at the top of the hill 3 mins walk from the flat - amazing fresh fish and chips. The Ship Pub in is also in the village 5 mins walk away - renowned for great food for miles around. There is a co-op in the village to supply all the essentials. Walking along the seafront there is a small shop (The wee shoppe) which puts tables and chairs out on nice days and sells teas and ice creams. Going further along past the lifeboat house and up the cliffside path to the top you will find the Harbour View - by day a cafe and gift shop with amazing sandwiches and cakes and a very reasonable and friendly pub with pool table by night. Panoramic views and a really nice place just to sit, eat, drink and spend a bit of time. The neighbours are incredibly friendly and helpful. The shared garden is immaculate. The nearest town is Kirkcaldy. The nearest ATM is at the post office on Harbour Road. Morrisons Supermarket is in Kirkcaldy. Turn right at the lights as you enter the town and you will see it on the right. There is parking to the front and rear. We recommend parking at the rear if there is any chance of ice or snow or a storm. We cannot be responsible for any weather related damage to your vehicle or possessions. The train is great and the journey to Edinburgh is spectacular - the highlight no doubt being the crossing of the iconic Forth Rail Bridge now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Always buy a return rather than singles this will save a lot of money. The heating controls are in the hall next to the front door on the left as you come in. Please be responsible with the environment and do not have the heating on and the windows open. Please be careful if you light the fire in the living room as the stones have come loose in the past and rolled down to burn the carpet. The flat is plenty warm enough without it. The shower is a mixer shower. It works fine. We advise to run the tap until you get the water to the correct temperature and then switch to shower mode by pulling the nozzle above the tap upwards. We don't have a dishwasher. We always have a stock of detergent and cloths. Please do the dishes and put your rubbish in the bin - don't leave it for our cleaner - she is there to do laundry, dusting, cleaning and vacuuming only.
