Rusland Retreat

Rusland Retreat is on the first floor of a barn conversion nestled in an elevated position in the hamlet of Oxen Park, in the beautiful Rusland Valley. The accommodation is perfect for a luxurious romantic retreat or as a base for outdoor activities. With immediate access to walking and cycling and an abundance of wildlife. Situated within the Lake District National Park, we are an easy 10 minute drive to Coniston Water and 15 minutes to Windermere. You have a private entrance to a stone built barn with space to store bikes etc. Up the stairs into your cosy snug area with a wood burner you will find the entrance to the rest of your retreat. Once inside you will find a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, lounge space with tv, king sized bed and luxurious en-suite. Furthermore, french doors open onto a private patio area with a bistro set for alfresco dining. Available 24/7, usually in the house. I can leave you to 'hibernate' or willing to give you any advice on local walks, amenities, hot spots and eating out. This small hamlet boasts a newly renovated pub, just a minute’s walk away, with excellent food and a spacious outdoor seating area. Straight onto the fell you can explore the Rusland Valley and surrounding area which in essence is a hidden gem. Just a 5 minute drive away is Greenodd Village with a perfect spot for brunch at Bakehouse Born and Bred. Greenodd is also home to a local butcher, wine merchant, post office and a fish & chip shop. Grizedale forest is a 15 minute drive and hosts GoApe, mountain bike hire and a cafe. Hawkshead and Coniston are local villages, just a 30 minute drive, supplying you with walks, scenery and locally made produce. Anyone who loves walking has access to many amazing locations straight from the retreat’s doorstep. We also have space for storing bikes and you have immediate access to trails. To explore further afield you will need the use of a car.
