Walkers Hideaway Cottage is over 700 years old, with picturesque views and rambling walks on its doorstep. Perfect for families, groups, and friends. Lots to see and do in the surrounding areas. The Gateway to the Dales at its finest. Skipton Cottage dates back over 700 years. The cottage has the benefit of a well appointed large breakfast kitchen with a 5 burner hob and electric oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer and wood burning stove (with wood supplied for guests) and ample crockery, cutlery, glasses, pans and cookware. There are 2 spacious cottage bedrooms for your use in this area (1 with twin beds and double, the other with king bed and 1 single) and a bathroom with shower. There is also a sitting room, dining room, a second shower room and utility room with a washing machine, dryer and iron (also housing another WC). The property has beautiful, large gardens, which has a pond (fenced)and is a haven for wildlife. You are surrounded by fields and picturesque Yorkshire countryside with stunning views. The garden has terraced areas, seating and tables, and a gas BBQ for your use. The property has been decorated using products with a minimum of chemicals and has hardly any disturbance from electro-magnetic fields (EMFs). During the renovation and building process, wherever possible, natural materials without petrochemicals have been used. We also have solar panels to the roof of the cottage, which provide us with hot water (we also have oil fired central heating and water heating). There is ample parking for cars. Skipton Cottage comprises part of a larger property. The areas guests can access are outlined above - the cottage kitchen, 2 cottage bedrooms, a shower room and a bathroom, dining room, utility room and the large breakfast kitchen with wood burning stove. Access to all of the surrounding gardens. Use of all parking areas. Use of BBQ and Firepit You will be welcomed to the property by the Housekeepers or the owner. You will have email and telephone support from booking to departure. We can help you plan your visit, from recommendations of places to eat, to researching local attractions for you. The property is located on a hillside and is in a quiet and peaceful location. The nearest train stop is 10 minutes away via car or taxi. The property has proved perfect for families, walkers, friends and tourists. The Dales offer a huge array of activities and places of interest to suit all visitors. Haworth, the home of the Bronte Sisters, and the historic market town of Skipton, being the home of Skipton Castle is a short drive of 15 minutes away. There are also lots of beautiful Yorkshire villages nearby, all worth a visit. Access to the Pennine Way is nearby, with a fantastic network of footpaths a short stroll from the door. We have local walks on our doorstep all mapped out for your information and use, plus lots more we haven't yet discovered! Local Yorkshire pubs offer great food and a warm welcome to visitors. Skipton Cottage is not on a bus route, but a taxi can be taken to and from the nearest train stop (10 mins away in local village). If you are planning on sightseeing, and visiting the surrounding tourist attractions, a car would be essential. The property has stairs to the bedrooms. Due to the historic age of the cottage and the barn conversion, the property is on different levels and there are some stairs/steps from the dining room to the lounge, and also from the kitchen to the bedrooms. This is a consideration for guests with mobility problems. The property is located on a hillside. We are a non-smoking household, and the Walkers Hideaway Cottage is a perfect non-allergy environment so pets are not allowed. (We can recommend local kennels upon request).
