It's a wonderful situation at the head of the beautiful Gatine valley. Ideal any season for walking, cycling or simply taking time out. In the winter months you’ll be cozy with the log burner - and there are heaters if you need extra warmth in a cold snap - just ask, we’re always nearby to help. Le Petit Toit is a lovingly restored gite for two in the grounds of the 15th century La Charpenterie, St-Loup-Lamaire. The exposed stone wall in the spacious bedroom and the tiled floors, coupled with a beautiful antique bed and other original pieces, mean that the gite retains its old-fashioned charm whilst the well-equipped modern kitchen area and stylish shower room provide every facility you might need for a relaxing holiday. The gîte has two patios and private barbecue area with views across local fields. You can be completely independent but don't forget to ask if there's anything we can help you with. We are happy to let you do your own thing and come and go as you please. There are usually events on every weekend throughout the summer, from vides grenier or brocantes, to local markets, arts festivals, music events and fireworks. You might also enjoy the marvelous story-telling of Puy de Fou, technology at its best at Futuroscope or relax fishing at Pescalis, all with an hour's ride from here. By car is convenient but why not leave the car and explore on foot or cycle? There are plenty of rural lanes, nearby villages and local towns to explore. Fly into Nantes, La Rochelle or Poitiers or take the TGV into Poitiers if you prefer. Several car hire firms operate in the area, check sites like Expedia for an up to date list. We are about 4 hours' drive from the channel coast ports - we tend to use Caen but other options are available. If you're not very familiar with log stoves, let us give you some tips when you arrive. More heaters are available if you need them. The rear opens onto a patio area where you can sip your early morning coffee as you plan your day or spend the evening stargazing over a glass of wine. (Hidden by Airbnb) The night skies are wonderfully dark here and if walking’s your thing, head out of La Charpenterie onto miles of country lanes passing fields of sunflowers. Note that this is a rural setting which is very peaceful but as you'd expect it experiences agricultural activity from time to time.
