Little Byre is a charming nineteenth century two bedroom cottage, tucked away in Baggrow, a traditional English hamlet in north Cumbria, just outside the Lake District National Park. A stay here offers the best of both worlds: a haven of peace and tranquillity where you can simply relax but close enough to access all the honeypot attractions of the northern Lake District, whilst also being a short drive from exploring all the Solway coast has to offer with its quaint seaside towns. Little Byre has been furnished to the highest of standards. Downstairs there is a living/dining room and kitchen. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, a master with king-size bed and a single bedroom as well as a family bathroom. The living room has a large flat-screen TV and DVD player. Quality oak furniture and soft leather furnishings complement the charm of this traditional Cumbrian cottage. There is a dining table which will comfortably seat four people. A cast-iron, living flame gas fire is very welcome on those cooler evenings, along with a range of books, games and jigsaws for you to while away the hours. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs. It includes an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, and a washing machine plus a fantastic view across the fields towards Skiddaw. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and bathroom. The master bedroom is beautifully fitted out with solid ash furniture. The king-size bed has sumptuous cream and red Egyptian cotton bedding. The large wardrobe and six-drawer dresser provides ample storage for all your clothes. The rear bedroom with its pine furniture enjoys beautiful views across the Caldbeck fells towards Skiddaw. Besides the comfortable single bed, there is a wardrobe and a large chest of drawers. Outside, a small, south-facing, enclosed terrace with patio table and chairs provides a place to unwind and let all the stresses and strains drain away as you just sit and take in the view. Guests have exclusive use of the cottage. Although we don't live nearby, we are just a phone call away should you need any advice or help. We always provide guests with comprehensive information about the cottage and the area before they arrive and there are plenty of tourist leaflets in the cottage with suggestions of things you can do during your stay. The towns of Keswick, Cockermouth, Silloth and Allonby are just a 20 minute drive away, offering a range of local shops, art galleries, museums, markets, theatres and plenty of pubs and eating places. This is the perfect area to choose for either gentle relaxation with walks from the door or for an action packed adventure holiday with lots to do. Go-Ape High Wire Forest Adventure, Honister Via Ferrata, gyroplanes, paragliding, canoeing, sailing and a full range of outdoor adventure activities are all on offer within a 20 min drive. Walkers, climbers and cyclists are spoiled for choice. From the high summits to forest trails and lakeside paths, there are walking and cycle routes suitable for all. A car is pretty much essential to access all that there is on offer nearby. Little Byre is strictly non-smoking and we do not accept any pets. Being in a very quiet residential area no parties are allowed.
