Secluded and Romantic Paradise on Somerset Levels
The Old Mill stands above an idyllic millpond on the Somerset Levels overlooking the Blackdown Hills. The former studio of a renowned artist, it offers a uniquely romantic setting in which to unwind and relax. There are many walks straight from the door and the nearest pub is less than 2 miles away. Venturing further afield you can spend the day on the Jurassic Coast or visit some of the many National Trust properties in the area. The property is detached and although next to the owner's home it is secluded and private. The Old Mill occupies the first and second floors. The spacious open plan living space leads out through French doors to a large south facing balcony where abundant wildlife can be spotted in the beautiful gardens. There is a shower room on the same floor. Steep stairs lead upstairs to the bedroom, which includes a luxurious free-standing bathtub to unwind in. I have been welcoming guests for over a decade and many return again and again. I am always available for advice as the property is next to my home. Although the Old Mill is within the grounds of the main property it is not overlooked and we respect the privacy of all our guests. So I am available as much or as little as guests desire. Guests are welcomed with a delicious hamper of home made treats and local delicacies. I have always welcomed guests in person and guided them around the property, however these Covid times mean a little more restraint - so just as warm a welcome awaits, albeit more restrained. Montacute House, Wells and Glastonbury are all worth a visit, as are the many RSPB sites in the area. The Jurassic Coast and Exmoor are all within striking distance. Walking in the Quantock and Blackdown Hills and hiking in Cheddar Gorge all showcase the variety this part of Somerset offers. There are many great pubs and cafés serving fantastic food. And of course the famous Somerset Cider Brandy is made round the corner. The beauty of the Old Mill is in its isolation. This does mean that public transport does not come to the village. However there are many walks straight from the door and the Old Mill is on cycle route 33. We are 10 miles from Taunton and 15 minutes from J25 of the M5. The nearest pub is less than 2 miles away. There are local taxi services available.
