Rosemary Cottage, a quaint cottage, YO224TU.
A 17th century cottage, updated without loosing its quaint character, set in the peaceful village of Fylingthorpe, a few minutes walk from picturesque Robin Hoods Bay on the North Yorkshire coast. Numerous walks, cycle paths and beaches, but peaceful. please note I accept bookings of a week only during June until September. Also note the cottage is not suitable for children under 8, or the infirm, due to the staircases being small and twisting. Due to its age the cottage has curved, steep staircases making it unsuitable for children under 8 or the infirm. It also has low ceilings on the top floors, and an "interesting" slope on the middle floor, it all adds to the charm of a 17th century cottage! The back door leads onto Thorpe Green, a lovely place to sit in warm weather, chairs can be found in the understairs cupboard. However this is a communal area so please understand other peoples privacy. The front patio is safe for your dog, please clean up after them. Thank you. The whole cottage is accessible, we have "drying rights" on Thorpe Green , which means you can dry clothes or sit on our mown area, there are walks cut into the field to wander, but sorry no dogs allowed. I am only across the field and can be contacted if needed, The phone number is in the cottage. The village is a short walk from Robin Hoods Bay, 5 miles from Whitby, close to the North York Moors, good for walking, cycling, horse riding, Steam trains and Goths! Folk music can always be found, good pubs, restaurants and theaters. Or you can just chill out on the beach! There are carparks in Bay, Whitby and Scarborough, easily found or you can catch the local bus from the top of Thorpe Green to either Whitby or Scarborough. If you bring a bike ( or hire one from Trailways, on the Whitby road) the old railway line is a marvelous way of seeing the coastline. Or you can just walk it! Teas at Raven Hall just to the south, visible on the horizon at the cottage,is recommended by walkers and cyclists. The local pub does food and has free WiFi. Other pubs are only a short walk away, most do food. Our local shops, Thorpe Green stores and Barnards Butchers (doubling up as a pizza takeaway some nights) are open most days . More details of places to visit are in the cottage.
