Room 1 Trigony House, South West Scotland
Relax in a laid back luxurious atmosphere in the heart of southern Scotland, excellent rustic cuisine using locally sourced ingredients, and for the ultimate in relaxation unwind in the exclusive use micro garden spa, indulge in a holistic organic massage, or a lovely soak in the wood fired hot tub. We are also one of the most dog friendly hotels in the UK, so your four legged friend needn't miss out! We take every effort to be eco-conscious from our energy sourcing to our food. Room 1 is one of our superior rooms at Trigony with a King sized bed (5ft) and offers an ensuite bathroom with both a bath and shower. Trigony is a beautiful 18th Century house that was once part of the Closeburn Castle estate. It was then refurbished in the Arts and Crafts style of the 1930's much of which remains in the decor and furniture including original William Morris wallpaper. Here at Trigony, we prioritise your comfort and care with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly, local staff. We are a family run business with our owners Adam and Jan at the centre of the daily runnings of the hotel. Our beds are incredibly comfortable but if you must drag yourself away from them, we have delicious hot breakfasts made to order for you waiting downstairs in our bar and dining room served between 8am and 11am. If you have dogs (like we do!), they are also most welcome to eat alongside you in the bar and be set up for the night in your room. Treats await them on arrival. Explore the local countryside at any time of year with our own local walking guide, or visit one of the amazing local castles or gardens. Ask any member of staff for recommendations - we are incredibly happy to help and as members of the local community, we know the best hidden spots. If you'd like to indulge further, we offer treatments, therapies and use of our sauna and hot tub with gorgeous tranquil views of the adjacent Kier Hills. Our resident alchemist Richard can whip you up a delicious cocktail - have a look over our drinks menu or ask for something special. Our friendly and welcoming local staff are available from 7:30am till 10:30pm. Some amazing countryside awaits to be explored, from the cliff top paths of the Solway Coast to the rolling hills of the Southern uplands, as well as lovely picturesque villages with their own unique characters. Pony trekking is popular amongst our guests at Camplebridge Riding School, less than 100m away on the A76! We recommend a trip into neighbouring Thornhill for lunch at Thomas Tosh or a wander around the small but beautiful modern art gallery at Cample Line. We are also situated not too far from Drumlanrig Castle which is worth visiting for its impressive history, art collection and picturesque estate lands - mountain bike enthusiasts this is one for you. There is a bus that stops right outside the hotel from Edinburgh (101 service bus) and trains arrive into Dumfries from all over the UK, just 10 miles (20mins) south of Trigony. You can either hire a car, take a bus or hail a taxi to Trigony from Dumfries Train Station. Glasgow and Edinburgh airports are just an hour north from Trigony. We can provide further directions on request. Both a buffet and cooked breakfast are included. Served between 8-10.30am.
