Conciergerie-Gîte pour 6 pers-3 chambres
"La Conciergerie" is the old gatehouse of this beautifully restored 18th Century traditional Charentaise Logis is set in 2 acres of landscaped gardens with racquet sports, common games room and TWO swimming pool complex. Logis de Lussais was built in the mid-18th Century as a gentleman's residence with a Manor house and private vineyard and later became a working farm. It has since been restored to provide holiday accommodation The Logis is approached along a private tree-lined avenue, offering ample shaded parking, through grand entrance gates into a fountain courtyard. The farmhouse and four-holiday cottages are around the central courtyard, and each has its private gardens. The four cottages share a secured 10 x 5m swimming pool and a second heated swimming pool 8 x 4m. Both swimming pools overlook the south-facing gardens where there is boule, badminton, short tennis and swings. In the Grange, an open barn, there is a shared games room including table tennis, pool table and bar football. All racquet and games equipment is provided. The pool complex has a pool house with shower, washbasin and WC and a shaded area where you can enjoy while escaping from the heat of the day. Wi-Fi Internet access is available on site free of charge. My wife and I live on the site in the Maison de Maitre. The Logis de Lussais is situated on the edge of a quaint village on the River Boutonne yet conveniently only 2km from the charming market town of Chef-Boutonne where there are 2 supermarkets and a small number of shops bars and restaurants. The surrounding countryside of woodlands and forests are ideal for walking and cycling with an abundance of wildlife. The fairy tale Chateau Javarzay on the edge of the town has a park and lake just perfect for a picnic or fishing. The Chateau is floodlit at night making a spectacular sight, often the focal point for village events and entertainment. The source of the River Boutonne to which the town lends its name lies deep beneath the church of Notre Dame in the ramparts of the castle in the old town. A regular open market each Saturday in the town square is an opportunity to buy the best of the local produce. Public transport is nil. You require to have your own transport.
