Idyllic Rock Cottage, North Norfolk , sleeps 4

Rock cottage was built in the late 1700s as two ‘one up one down' cottages, with a later side extension for a kitchen and ground floor bathroom. Now joined to form a lovely spacious traditional 2-bedroom Norfolk cottage. Furnished in an attractive eclectic style set against pale off white walls giving a homely yet contemporary feel. The cottage is in a large mature garden with many beds laid to shrubs and flowers with a good area of lawn, set back off the road, it is very private and tranquil. Each of the two bedrooms is accessed from their own traditional and original ‘Norfolk winder’ staircase. These are not ideal for people with accessibility issues as relatively steep and narrow but were designed to provide maximum rise using a minimum floor area and are common in North West Norfolk. The bedrooms are both a good size, one has an ensuite shower room with a double 5ft bed. The other is a larger room with a 6ft Superking bed which can be split into twin beds (please advise this requirement when booking) with use of the family bathroom on the ground floor. The Sitting room has two sofas, TV and rugs on a pamment tiled floor, a beamed ceiling and brick exposed original fireplace with a woodwarm log burner. There is a staircase from this room to the Bedroom with ensuite shower. The separate dining room has a large pitch pine table which comfortably seats 6 people, a stone tiled floor, open fire with woodwarm log burner and beamed ceiling. There is another staircase from this room to the other larger bedroom. The kitchen has a stone floor, traditional panelled and painted kitchen units. It includes: undercounter fridge (no freezer), washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, crockery, glassware, pots and pans, kettle and toaster. A basket of logs for each log burner is provided. Additional logs available from the log store at an extra charge. Parking is available on the public road a short walk approx 30 meters down the access path (no car access). Max. 2 well behaved dogs allowed. Dogs are not allowed upstairs in the bedrooms or on the sofa and chairs. Please bring crate/dog beds, food and drink bowls. All dog mess must be disposed of immediately in the outside black bin. Please check garden before you leave. I am close by and contactable by phone should guests need any assistance. East Rudham is situated on the A148, 10 minutes from the market town of Fakenham. The village offers a peaceful hideaway in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. A sister village to West Rudham, a little further down the road, the community has at its feet a medieval church overlooking the village green. The village boasts an excellent pub, The Crown Inn which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, a small village shop - Nanny P's small Farmshop selling essential supplies. There is a gift shop and tea room serving cakes. The village tennis court, a playing field and bowling club are nearby. East Rudham is located between Kings Lynn and Fakenham and is well placed for those wishing to explore the pretty market towns of Burnham Market, Holt and King's Lynn as well as the North Norfolk coastline - the sandy beaches of Wells, Holkham, Brancaster, Hunstanton and Holme are a short distance by car. The market town of Fakenham has a good selection of shops, eateries and pubs. Fakenham has an excellent market on a Thursday and a visit to the auction rooms on the same day can be very educational. Stately homes abound with the deer parks of Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall, whilst Sandringham Estate is within easy reach. Although there is a regular bus service with stops on the A148 by the village green, a car is essential to get around the area.
