This is the Artist's house and here is a piece from the owners - Welcome to Weir View which has been a loved family home since 1997. John was Head of English at Plymouth University and is an artist and poet. His pictures are round the walls at Weir View and many depict the Devon landscape within a 5 mile radius of the house. Jane is a poet and violinist and we have run poetry workshops and music evenings in the house over many years However since 2001 we have been splitting our lives between Devon and Oxford where Jane is a teacher educator at Oxford Brookes University. We love Devon and our home there so want others to enjoy it while we are away. Mitchell knew us and the house for some years before we were lucky enough to be able to team up with him to manage our house. We wish you much enjoyment of the happy spirit of the house and its peaceful beautiful surroundings. Guests will have full access to the property and parking during their stay. Will be available throughout your stay. Weir view is a lovely place, you can walk into town within 10 mins one direction or walk in the other and be in the stunning grounds of Dartington Estate. In 2018, The Telegraph asked ‘Is this the most eccentric town in Britain‘ and Totnes can stand strong and say yes! With is high street of independent shops, quirky characters and beautiful surrounding landscape, there is something for everyone. Totnes has such a reputation for being alternative that local jokers wrote 'twinned with Narnia' under the town sign. It boasts a tempting vineyard, a sturdy Norman castle and a mass of fine Tudor buildings, and is the springboard for a range of outdoor activities. The small and spruce old town of Totnes stands at the furthest navigable point on the River Dart. The narrow main street winds around brick and stone houses of faded hues evoking the wealth of its 16C and 17C merchants.
