We welcome you to our guest flat which is attached to our home in Portmahomack. We are a sand dune away from a safe beach and coastal walks where you may be lucky and see otters, seals and some of the Moray Firth dolphins. The village has good variety of eating places plus a golf course with a hospitable clubhouse. The general store has a good choice of foodstuffs which you can cook in our well equipped kitchen. The flat has its own front door and wee porch handy for boots and coats and dog beds! Enter the kitchen, bedroom with double bed and en suite shower and loo to the right and sitting room with lovely sea view to the left. TV, books and local info as well as Wifi! The kitchen cupboard always has a supply of basics ..... tea, coffee cereals , a few tins and fresh milk and bread ...... to which you are welcome! Car parking in front of house but please note there is a flight of steps outside as we are built on a sand dune! Welcome to use the garden .... sit outside and watch the sun go down! Being the east coast village that faces west we are famous for lovely sunsets! We will be here welcome to you and offer help and local knowledge! A somewhat undiscovered peaceful haven. The Tarbat Discovery Centre, our local Pictish museum, houses some of the best of the carved stone finds from fifteen years of archeological digs in the area plus it is a good source of local family history. The Tarbat(Portmahomack) golf Club has a challenging nine hole links course and no doubt can equip you with clubs if you fancy a round there. Tarbatness Lighthouse is a must see .... the second tallest Lighthouse in mainland Scotland and one of the many built by the Stevenson family. Sadly not open to the public nowadays but still worth a walk to the point and do a bit of dolphin spotting. Only 9 miles off the NC 500 but with an interesting side loop that takes in three remarkable Pictish stones, the ANTA worshops (famous for all things tartan) and the ferry to beautiful Cromarty. Rejoining the NC 500, go north to Tain and Glenmorangie Distillery, Dornoch, Dunrobin Castle and on to John O'Groats and Orkney and Shetland. Lovely coastal walks. Inevitably easiest to get here and around the area by car but there is a Bus service to Tain where you can travel on by bus or train to Inverness or head up north. We have a garage so can keep bikes safe! Last year many of our one nighters said they wished they were staying longer as there was so much to offer round here! Weather wise ..... the Tarbat Peninsula is one of the driest areas of Scotland! And rarely bothered by the dreaded midge! Dogs with well behaved owners are welcome to share the flat and the unfenced garden and will no doubt love the beach which , year round, has no restriction on dogs.
