As for location we are far just enough away from both the beaches and cities. The gîte is located in the countryside with a million miles of sky, ideal for stargazing at night. Here you create your own perfect vacation, whether it's a busy day exploring the region or doing nothing but recharging your batteries and relaxing by the pool. As we only have one gîte the heated pool is for your sole use during your stay. We live next door so are around here to help you if needed us - our mission is to make your stay perfect. All you have to do is ask. We want to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible Ideally located in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by fields of sunflowers, corn and vineyards. It is an ideal place to relax and unwind by the pool or to explore the many villages and towns in the area, such as La Rochelle, Cognac, Saintes, Bordeaux and Rochefort. We have a small market town just 8km away where there is a couple of bakeries, butchers, convenience store, tabac, post office, bar and a bank, there is also a market there every Friday. We also have two great restaurants just 3km away. La Retraite is only 40 minutes from the coast, including the beautiful beaches of Royan, Chatelaillon-Plage and the picturesque islands of Ré, Oléron and Aix. Own transport is essential The pool for your sole use from morning to early evening. The rest of the time, it is maintained and cleaned by the owners. For your safety, please note that the pool is enclosed by a high fence fence and an alarm. Please note animals are not allowed in the pool.
