Ashton Retreat
Ashton Retreat is the perfect Adelaide Hills getaway, and only 20 minutes from the centre of Adelaide. The Retreat is located on a 15 acre property with wonderful privacy and seclusion. We are centrally located for people who want to visit the wine regions of Clare, the Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale. The Retreat is fully self-contained except for laundry facilities. Our property includes many deciduous trees and shrubs and is a haven for fauna and flora, including seasonal visits from Kangaroos and Koalas. Enjoy a glass of wine and watch the microbats feed in the twilight Enjoy a meal at our local, the Uraidla Hotel, or grab a pizza at Lost in A Forest, also in Uraidla. The Summertown Aristologist is also open on weekends .The Scenic Hotel at Norton Summit is great for an evening drink, or stay for a meal. We are close to many Parks and walking tracks (including Cleland Widlife Park), golf courses, Mt Lofty lookout at the fabulous restaurant a Mt Lofty house. Our house is on the property, and we happy to help with directions and advice, if required. The opportunity is there for guests to explore our 15 acre property with the proviso that our privacy is respected. Ashton is a pretty semi rural location with houses spread out through orchards and vineyards. There are no shops in Ashton, but there is a small supermarket in Uraidla, a return trip of 10 minutes. Otherwise, the nearest shops are at Magill in the city or Stirling in the Hills (each 20 mins away) Having your own transport is essential. Cycling is popular throughout the Adelaide Hills and the Tour Downunder has passed our gate on many occasions. There is access to bus services which travel to and from the city with stops in nearby Summertown (10 mins walk approx). The Heysen Trail is closeby for those who prefer to walk. The Retreat is supplied exclusively with locally collected rainwater, wastewater is processed onsite and there is a solar array installed for passing electricity back into the grid.
