Island apartment - Stresa

An apartment on one of Lake Maggiore's "doll-size islands. Toys floating in a basin. Pretty, really pretty. Tiny houses and tiny trees reflected in the lake." Paul Klee Our apartment is on an island: Isola dei Pescatori, Stresa, one of the three Borromeo Islands on Lake Maggiore. It is simple, old, with wood on the ceiling and stone (cotto veneziano) on the floor. It faces the lake and is furnished with old authentic furniture. It consists of a main living room, a bedroom a bathroom with shower and a small kitchen. If you come by train the best station is Stresa, if you come by car we advise you to leave your car at Baveno (the nearest village). Every 30 minutes there is a public-boat to Isola dei Pescatori from both the two villages Stresa or Baveno. There are also private boats. On the island there are many restaurants and various shops. The food is however more expensive on the island and we advise you to go to the main land to do the big shopping. It is quite fun and 10 minutes by boat. Each guest has to pay 1 € per night because of city tourist taxes
