Lynwood Cottage, a place to unwind in comfort.
We are 2 hours and 15 mins from sydney and 40 mins to Canberra. This self contained cottage is close to the small village of Collector. We have an excellent cafe which has an inner city vibe, with inner city coffee and baristas to match. We also boast a regional cellar door for Collector Wines. It is in the same historic building as the cafe, in the main street of Collector. A great way to start your weekend adventure. Then you can return to your cosy cottage with the fire blazing and relax. The garden is large and peaceful with lots of bird life, mature trees and rustic old sheds. The cottages northerly aspect lets lots of light and warmth in. Sit back , relax and enjoy the uninterrupted rural aspect. There is a chook yard, 5 black faced Suffolk sheep and a pottery studio in the old shearing shed close by. It is a quiet world away from the city and a great place to disconnect from the fast pace of crazy city pace and life. The slow combustion fire will keep you warm on those wintry nights. It’s a great place to base your self for a Canberra regional adventure. We have 3 well rated cellar doors, all with cafes and restaurants attached. With our new normal it is a great idea to book in for a tasting and a meal if you can. You can use my washing machine and clothes dryer in the house 100 meters away. Basically I leave you to your own devices. I make sure you are comfortable and if there is anything you need we would of course help. 2 1/4 hours from Sydney, 40 minutes to Canberra, 2 hours to the south coast, great 1/2 way stop from Sydney to the snow. 1 minute from the highway but a world away in the garden and and view to the paddocks. Collector is a small town with about 250 people. We have a great cafe with excellent coffee sweet treat and lunches. I love the toasted ham and cheese sandwiches with their delicious pickles. We also run a cellar door the same building as the cafe, Collector Wines. We are happy to help with advice on a Canberra district wine adventure. There is also the famous Bushranger Hotel and another lovely cafe in the olive grove 3 minutes drive north on the highway towards sydney, called Kiki’s in the grove. 20 minute walk to the cellar door, cafe and pub!! I always provide fresh eggs (from our chookyard), some sourdough bread (mostly made by me) and full cream milk for the tea and coffee. So enough for a good breakfast. There are herbs etc if you would like in the veggie patch. There is wine in the fridge and table. Please feel free to have them and just leave some cash. The price ison the bottle. Some of our regions best wine!! Iam slightly biased but you can discover that yourself!! ;-))
