Cosy stylish cottage for a perfect seaside retreat

A charming and immaculate cottage located minutes from the scenic beach of Bigbury-on-Sea. The cottage has been sympathetically decorated to retain its cosy period features. Yet it boasts chic and contemporary interiors, unique for a cottage of this age. We purchased Rose Cott in September last year and originally planned to move down to Devon from London, having been captured by its charm and beauty. Shortly after this, I became pregnant so we decided to delay our big move in favour of being closer to family in London. Having created a lovely home, we have now decided to open it up for holiday lets. We consider Rose Cott a home away from home. We have spent a fair amount of time in holiday homes around the UK and aspired to create a bright and welcoming space. About the property: The driveway leads you through the back garden/outside dining area into the rear of the property. Situated on the edge of the delightful village of Bigbury down a quiet country lane, the property is surrounded by farmland and farm buildings towards the side/rear. Both the front and rear gardens benefit from an elevated position with outdoor seating and abundant levels of sunshine throughout the day. As guests enter the property they are welcomed by beautiful flagstone floors, designed to stay cool during the summer and cosy during the winter, with thermostatically controlled underfloor heating. The kitchen is open plan and has a bright airy feel with an a-joined dining area that is perfect for entertaining. The bespoke units are finished to a high standard with the necessary appliances, including a dishwasher, fan assisted cooker, electric hob, separate fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. The property has a good selection of pots, pans and chopping boards with hopefully everything you will need to cook at home. The living area is spacious and designed with a Scandi style in mind. The sofa is extremely comfortable and perfect for loafing around on, while in colder months guests can make use of the wood burning stove to get warm and cosy. For fans of Netflix, the room has a Smart TV or a good selection of books and boardgames. Guests in the main bedroom are treated to a four poster king size bed. The second bedroom is delightfully decorated with a contemporary rattan style double bed. While the third bedroom has a bunk bed, perfect for children but will also accommodate adults (up to 100kg per bunk). All bedrooms benefit from views to the front of the property, with quality memory foam mattresses and luxurious bed linen throughout. The main bathroom is located on the ground floor of the property and includes an integrated bath shower. While guests also have the use of a toilet located on the first floor. Please note, that due to the age and character of the property , it does feature low ceilings and beams throughout. Rose Cott is ideally located for some of the South Ham’s best sights. The beach at Bigbury-on-Sea is less than 5 minutes by car (or around 25 minutes by a scenic country walk), perfect for surfing or paddle boarding. While the quaint market town of Modbury is only 10 minutes away. The popular towns of Salcombe, Dartmouth and Totnes are all within easy reach. The nearby village of St Annes Chapel has a shop offering local organic produce and an award winning gastro pub (15 minute walk or 2 minutes by car). Travelling with kids?
