La Maison Glycine A charming 2 bedroom cottage

La Maison Glycine is set in the heart of the Charente Maritime countryside, La Rochelle and the beaches are only 50 minutes away yet you are in a tranquil area surrounded by woodland. A superb place to walk or cycle or just relax. Ideal for famiies or couples alike. Bars , restaurants, Banks and the supermarket are all within a 5 minute drive. Large Lounge with 2 sofas and a large dining table set in its own area, Large open fire ( logs at extra cost winter only) Englishg and French TV. Access to Large kitchen with plenty of worktops for food preparation as required. Enclosed Spiral staircase leading off kitchen to Landing, long landing area leading to on the right a bathroom with walk in shower, then progressing down the landing to the first double bedroom and then the twin bedroom . Parking is opposite the property on private land We are sociable people but believe it is your break or holiday and feel you may well require your own space, however, we are happy to socialise if you wish and obviously will always be around should you need us. La Bouchollerie is a small hamlet close to the town of Aulnay with the usual amenities, hosting a Market on a Sunday and Thursday (small) the travelling Fish and Chip van arrives every Thursday evening in the square. It boasts an important church as part of the Pilgrimage route to Lourdes. We have the Donkey sanctuary within a kilometre of our property. The chateau of Dampierre Sur Boutonne ( where Salvador Dali stayed frequently) is 3km away with regular tours, and open gardens. Woodland trails surround our Hamlet for pleasant walks with nature. Cycle routes are all around us and the roads do have traffic but it tends to be quite light. The major town of St Jean D'angley is approx 18 km away with lots more shops, a Hospital ( we hope not!) a large park with lake and Cafe and amenities. A twice weekly Large market takes place both indoor and outdoor. There are Bars and Restaurants in the town centre near to the market area. There is a Train station at St Jean D'Angley approx 20 minutes. Airports are situated at La Rochelle Approx 1 hour,Poitiers approx 1 hour,Bordeaux approx 2 hours and Limoges approx 2 hours. Main Line stations with links direct to Paris are at Surgeres approx 35 mins, Poitiers approx 1 hour and La Rochelle approx 1 hour. There are taxi services available at Aulnay but no local bus service. There is ample car parking both in Aulnay and StJean D'angley. Fuel stations are frequent as they tend to be with the local Intermarches or Super U or Leclerc. We are on the top catchment area for the Cognac Pineau producers, They sell direct and they also prosuce local wines the closest about 10 minutes away. They also supply the local supermarkets.
