Elegant Converted Chapel, Luxury in Forest of Dean
The Old Chapel is a unique and newly renovated chapel situated in Ellwood in the heart of the Forest of Dean. The former Methodist Chapel dating from 1875 has been lovingly and thoughtfully restored to a very high standard - enhancing the charm and character of the original building and retaining original features for use such as the church organ dining room table and pews, the character has been kept but with a modern twist. The large open plan ground floor has luxurious underfloor heating with a spacious, fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge with an abundance of seating and a smart TV. There is a downstairs toilet and a large utility area with a washing machine and tumble drier for returning after long, muddy walks or bike rides in the forest and there is a newly purpose built, secure outside shed with bike racks and storage for up to 8 bikes. Upstairs there are four generous bedrooms which sleep 8 people. Three bedrooms have king sized beds, two of which have en-suite shower rooms and a third which shares the luxury family bathroom with the fourth twin bedroom. All bathrooms have underfloor heating. Guests have exclusive access to The Chapel. Parking is on the roadside outside the property. Although there are no parking restrictions in the village, we recommend you park on the roadside opposite the chapel (the same side as the school). A car is recommended to around, however if you are into walking and/or cycling, once you have arrived you can ditch the car and access popular trails direct from the house. There are 2 local pubs 1.2 miles away. The nearest town is historic Coleford, just 2.2 miles which has a great selection of individual shops where you can really experience a taste of The Forest. There is also a large Co-Op & Lidl. The Old Chapel is managed by Emma Nelson at White Feather Management. Emma will be available on the phone at all times to ensure you have everything you need during your stay. Communications will be sent by Emma. The Old Chapel is the perfect central base to return to after a day of sightseeing and exploring the local forestry/area. It is ideal for walking and cycling enthusiasts, families and groups of friends, with an abundance of activities such as The Gloucestershire Way, Symonds Yat, Dean Forest Railway, Pedal a Bike Away and Clearwell Caves all within easy reach. Walks, cycle trails, rivers, railways, castles, Go Ape! and caves are all nearby. There are many castles to visit and the cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester are within easy driving distance.
