Escape to our unique tiny Bothy dating to 1666 in a rural, remote picturesque fellside village. Cosy, simplistic, quirky & a true glamping experience. With its very own Finnish sauna for guests only. Bothies are traditionally a simple mountain shelter, ours has that basic charm & feel. We are looking forward to sharing our rustic little Bothy & Village with lovers of the Lake District, scenic walking trails & the magnificent Cumbrian mountains of the Northern Fells right on the doorstep. A simple Bothy with a rustic feel. Everything you need for a weekend get away with a difference!! With its own private sauna, the perfect way to unwind and relax after a hard day's walk on the fells! Fitted with a woodburner also will keep you cosy. We will provide pillows and cases, towels, blankets and toiletries A quirky mezzanine platform has a nice view of the fields and sheep and you'll sleep well on a king size platform bed with super comfy mattress. Below is small double futon bed which can act as a sofa also. Plenty of blankets are provided also. We recommend that you bring warm clothing and slippers. Bothies are traditionally stone or wooden buildings located in the mountains to provide a shelter. Although this is a Fell side bothy it is still built the traditional way out of stone. You do have to pop out briefly to access the toilet, shower and Sauna room. It's a great place if you enjoy camping/glamping!! Fitted also with TV, WiFi and a very simple kitchen. We look forward to seeing you soon :) Guests will have exclusive use of there own Finnish Sauna which is all self contained in the building. Simply follow the Sauna instructions and we recommend a 2 hour session per day. Guests have there own patio/ outdoor area for barbecue or chilling. I'll be around to greet guests. If not we'll leave the key in a key safe. Caldbeck is a pretty Fellside Village. There is a green with a duck pond which is perfect for an easy stroll around. There is a convenience store with petrol and diesel pumps. This little shop has pretty much everything you need from a large selection of drinks and snacks to fresh pastries, coffee and a post office. The Village boasts a Pub, a cafe with fresh homemade ice cream, a gift shop, hairdresser and a Fair Trade shop opposite the church. When exploring the church and quaint beck you will discover The Priest Mill, which is an arts and craft centre show casing an array of hand made crafts. There is also a cafe on there with lovely homemade food. There are so many little walks to explore its hard to know where to start, take the Cumbrian Way in one direction and get up to Caldbeck Common and onto the summit of High Pike if your feeling adventurous. Alternatively take a short stroll to the Bobbin Mill and discover the waterfalls of the river. There is no public transport to Caldbeck apart from on Saturdays between April and October when a bus runs from Carlisle-Hesket Newmarket-Caldbeck-Keswick andack again, please check Cumbria public transport website for more details. The nearest train station is in Wigton which is about 6 miles away. The area is well known for cyclists and there is a barn for storing your bikes at the cottage and it also possible to hire bikes from us for a small charge. The Bothy is completely open plan, with kitchen, living room and sleeping area all in the same room. The shower, toilet, sauna & sink facilities are right next door so please bring warm clothing as you briefly need to pop out to access it. There are radiators and a woodburner but this isn't a house- it's much more fun! The sauna is Included in your booking ,just follow the simple instructions or if we are around we will show you how to use it and we'll set it up
