Fish Creek Retreat
Let yourselves slow down and unwind at Fish Creek, in our beautiful owner built home. Sit on the deck and watch the rolling hills, swing in the hammock. Stroll into town along the rail trail and pop in at a gallery or cafe. Take a drive to Waratah Bay, Sandy Point or Walkerville nth or sth or venture to the the wonderful Wilsons Prom for some big nature. Have a meal at the pub later , get fish and chips from the servo or cosy up and cook at the house. This owner built home is situated in a semi-rural setting. The house has been lovingly constructed with many had crafted architectural features, most of the furniture inc. the beds have been made from recycled timbers. The polished concrete floor includes special glow in the dark stones only visible at night time (showering at night with the lights off is pretty nice..!!). There is a split system , cooling or heating the house quickly. The views are spectacular as the house is sitting on a saddle overlooking the town to the south east and rural views to the south and the west. There is a lot of space for children (and grownups) to run around in , play frisbee , kick a footy, ponder the stars at night. There is a great tree house for adventurous kids to play in.. and is also a nice place to check out the sunset in the evening, or check out the Bald Hills wind farm off in the distance. The whole house (other than the workshop) Fish Creek is a wonderful little town approximately 45 minutes drive from Tidal River (Wilsons Prom), 15-20 minutes from some lovely local beaches, Sandy Point or Waratah Bay, 25 minutes from Walkerville. There is a fantastic rail trail that runs through the town (for the riding enthusiasts). There are some great places to eat (Fishy Pub among others) or have a coffee Little Oberon cafe, Long John Pickles or Gibsons. There are also some amazing artists and local artisans such as Andy (Ride the Wild Goat). Childrens author Alison Lester has a store in town, and botanical artist Celia Rosser also has a permanent gallery on the fringes of town. Its quite arty and bohemian in many ways...! The house is 5 minutes walk from the Yarram regional Bus service bus stop, (adjacent to the Fish Creek Pub on Meeniyan-Promontory Rd). We have friends who live just down the hill from our house who have a lovely dog called Rio who pops in for a visit now and again. Our property is adjacent to township zoned land (on the east side) and rural farmland on the south west side. If you happen to have young children or possibly a dog you need to be aware the fencing on the south west is farm fencing with cows and horses roaming on the other side.
