Kakariki Beach House

Our Golden Bay house at Patons Rock - Kakariki Beach House (Kakariki means green in Maori) - sits beside a small creek only 150 metres from beautiful Patons Rock beach. The main house has two bedrooms, a large living area, kitchen and bathroom. There are two decks - one for morning sun and the other for the afternoon - and a separate cottage with two more bedrooms, a second bathroom and the laundry. You'll enjoy the privacy of the 1400 sq m garden offering sun, shade and shelter. It's a perfect spot for rest and recreation, giving ready access to all the advantages of Golden Bay - sea, National Parks, arts and crafts, cafes and bars. Our friend Gabriele, who manages the house for us, lives just a few doors away and is readily available to answer your questions and provide any assistance you need. At Patons Rock you're only a few kilometres from the world renowned Mussel Inn, offering great craft beer and music. There's also plenty of locally roasted coffee throughout the Bay. Organic vegetables are just up the road. The township of Takaka, 10 kilometres away, has a big supermarket and everything you could possibly need for a great holiday - cafes, movie theatre, library, real fruit icecreams, outdoors, jewellery and pottery shops. At the I-Site office in Takaka you can book any tours and adventures eg Abel Tasman National Park, Farewell Spit, and hikes. Abel Tasman National Park is just a short drive to the east and Kahurangi National Park just to the west. And there are plenty of other great walks nearby. You'll need a car in Golden Bay. But nothing's very far away. You can spend hours walking along the beach at low tide, or exploring the famous Waikorupupu Walkway or Kaituna track. Children We really welcome families and allow their children under 12 years to stay free of charge. When you make your reservation please let our manager Gabriele know if you will have children under 12 with you. Please note that there is a stream running along the back of the property which is unfenced. Covid Lockdown Policy In the event that the New Zealand government enforces another lockdown in the interests of containing or eliminating COVID 19 we will refund 100% of the booking fee of people who have booked the property but are unable to take up the booking.
