Peaceful cottage in glorious surroundings

Hidden away on the edge of the ancient Forest of Dean, in the beautiful Wye Valley. Set in a large private garden, accessed by a mile long narrow lane, a fabulous resting place for walkers and romantic escapees. Originally a woodman’s cottage, with a cosy-but-spacious interior, wood burner, fully equipped kitchen, everything you need for a relaxing break. Sleeps 4 adults, plus a babe-in-arms. The large cottage garden is not suitable for children under 12, it has a pond and steep terracing . Bedding, towels, and all basics included (soap, loo paper, cleaning materials etc) Bathroom is brand new, has a bath, with screen and shower over, toilet and hand basin Store cupboard essentials included (tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, olive oil) Board games, books, cookery books, maps, plus an information file Dogs by arrangement Superb community shop/cafe in village (30 mins walk via a footpath, or a short drive by car) Private off-lane parking 2-3 cars. Private garden areas Sheltered sunny terrace Woodland and riverside walks Plenty of excellent places to eat out in the area Easy access from the M48 Severn Bridge (20 mins drive) 10 walk minutes from Offas Dyke footpath 30 mins from Bristol Guests can use all of the cottage, the washing machine is in the separate utility room, there is a clothes line for summer and a heated airer in the utility room. Please don't go into the garage and potting shed, its untidy and used as a store for our personal items. Do help yourselves to herbs from the garden, only Bay, Thyme and Sage in the winter We live 10 minutes away in the next village and are always on hand to help. THINGS TO DO AROUND Acacia Acacia can be the place to relax and enjoy the peace of its lovely surroundings; or it can be used as a base for walking miles along the riverbank in either direction, Offas Dyke and many of the footpaths into Wales across the river. Also a multitude of wonderful things to do or interesting places to visit in the area: riding the steam train through the Forest of Dean, zipping round the dedicated cycling track at Pedalabikeaway, visiting the caves at Clearwell, or canoeing down the River Wye. For those who enjoy ancient monuments, Tintern Abbey is just down the road, and the beautiful old county town of Monmouth is ten minutes away. Eating out is great, too, from fantastic pub food and a pint at The Boat Inn at Redbrook , The Royal George in Tintern to excellent restaurants in Monmouth and nearby villages. There is a bus service along the Chepstow /Monmouth road with access to Tintern Abbey and shopping in both towns. The nearest train station is Chepstow or Lydney. The lane to the cottage is one mile long, tarmac, very narrow (with passing places), Standard family sized cars will be fine, Anything wider than a transit van will not get through, so no camper vans . It is also a no-through road. The cottage has a large turning area for guests.
